KINGSPORT - Linda Baldwin Tipton, 71, of Kingsport, went to be with
the Lordon Saturday (Jan. 24, 2004) at Wellmont Holston Valley
Medical Center.
Bornin Scott County, Va., she had lived in Kingsport for several
years. She was avery loving mother of six children and a wonderful
grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a retired cook and night
manager for Chuck's Drive-In. Shehad a lot of friends who she loved
and especially the officers of the Kingsport City Police Department.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Tipton; a daughter,
Martha Tipton; her parents, Willard Monroe Baldwin and LauraStanley
Baldwin; and a son-in-law, Danny Hunley Sr.
Surviving are her fourdaughters, Shirley Busler and husband Dale,
Kingsport, Janice Price, Rogersville, Wanda Hunley, Kingsport, and
Vickie Helbert and husband Jerry, Kingsport; two sons, Donald Ray
Tipton, and Ronald Kay Tipton and wife Shiela, all ofKingsport; 22
grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; an aunt, Mary Laney of
Kingsport; many cousins; and a very special companion, China, her
5-year-oldpet.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Carter-Trent Funeral
Home, downtown Kingsport. Family and friends may also call at the
homes of herson, Donnie, and her daughter, Shirley, 110 Fairway
Street, Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Gary Hood and the Rev. Otto Gibson officiating.
Music will be provided by the Hood Family Quartet.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at HallCemetery, Rye
Cove, Va.
Pallbearers are Ronald Tipton, Jerry Helbert, JerryLee Helbert,
Jeffrey Carter, Kevin McVey and Scott McVey.

KINGSPORT - Charles R. (Tip) Tipton, 68, 536 Kincaid St., passedaway
Monday morning (May 21, 2001).
He was born in Scott County, Va., on June 26, 1932, and was a veteran
of the Korean conflict, having served in the U.S. Army. He was retired
from Steadman Construction.
Mr. Tipton was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mable A. Tipton; parents,Kelly
and Ellen Carter Tipton; one brother and one sister.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael and Debbie
Tipton, Larry and BrendaTipton, all of Gate City, and Tony Tipton,
Jonesborough; and a very specialperson, Kaye Dykes; granddaughter,
Whitney Tipton; grandson, Adam Tipton; sisters, Hazel Herron, Gate
City, Nannie Bishop, Wilma Sloan and Peggy (Lucille)Tipton, all of
Clinchport; brothers, Guy Tipton and Jack Tipton, both of Clinchport;
several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Thursday at 2
p.m. with the Rev. Eckel Herron officiating.

away Monday (Oct. 20, 2003) at Wellmont Hospice House in Bristol,
Tenn.

Kingsport Foundry. Hewas also of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Sloan was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Faye

RYE COVE, Va. - James Canary Tipton, 68, entered into rest Tuesday
(March 27, 2001) at his residence.
Born March 30, 1933 in Scott County,Va., Mr. Tipton was a son of the
late Harvey and Estle B. Tipton. He was a native of Scott County and
retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation.
Mr. Tipton was of the Baptist faith and a member of Bishop Memorial
Freewill Baptist Church.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Jimmy Lee
Tipton; sister, Lillie Mae Thacker; brothers, Ivan, Claude andCharlie
Tipton.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Rhoton Tipton, of the home, RyeCove,
Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry James and Rosemary Tipton,
