DUFFIELD, Va. - Linda Reece BowenCarrico, 62, of Duffield, entered
into rest Saturday morning (Feb. 28, 2004)at Wellmont Holston Valley
Medical Center, with her loving family surroundingher.
Born in Kingsport, she was a daughter of the late U.W. (Jay) and Helen
Quillen Bowen. She was a former employee of ASG & Virginia Electric
and a member of Three Bells United Methodist Church in Duffield. Prior
to her disability in 1983, she was active in the community through her
involvement with theGirl Scouts and as PTA president.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her precious
brother, Jay E. Bowen.
Surviving are her two veryloving daughters, Paula and husband Russell
Proctor, and Nikki Hilton, all of Duffield; the best granddaughter in
the world, Anna Grace Proctor of Duffield; two special sisters, Sue
and husband Paul Vaughn of Duffield, and FrancesMullins of Mt. Airy,
N.C.; special sister-in-law, Helen Bowen of Duffield; special nephews,
Jeff and wife Mary Beth Vaughn of Gate City, Va., and Brad Bowen of
Duffield; special nieces, Jana and husband Chris Wilson of Duffield,
and Lora Cutler of Mt. Airy, N.C.; former husband and dear friend,
Paul Carrico of Gate City, Va.; special dear friend, Janice Smith;
seven great-niecesand nephews; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and
a multitude of special friends.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at The Duffield Funeral
Home at Thomas Village.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Roy LaDuke and the Rev. Garry Edwards officiating.
Music will be provided by Jeff Vaughn and Jana Wilson.
Committal serviceswill be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Fraley Cemetery
in Duffield. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home
at 10:30 a.m. for procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers are Mark Smith, Jamie Smith, David Robbins, Eddie Robbins,
Crockett Taylor, and Wayne Tignor.
Honorary pallbearers are Larry Williams, Ross Bowen, Bill Bowen, Greg
Carter, and Claude Marlow, Pete Bowen, Phillip Dishner, Dale Smith,
Jimmy Smith, and Jim Smith.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the special care
provided by Hospice & Palliative Care of Virginia, Brandy McCarroll,
