He graduated from Emory & Henry College after WW II, and then worked
at Eastman
Chemical Co for 44 yrs before retiring in 1986. He was a member of the
USArmy,
Co C, 87th Chemical Mortar Battalion which went ashore early on D-Day
in WW II.
He was wounded by artillery fire 13 days after the invasion. He wasa
Sergeant

GATE CITY, Va. - Nina Lee Gillenwater Catron, 75, went to her heavenly
home on Monday (Feb. 10, 2003).
She was the daughter of the late Milton and Mima Gillenwater. She was
a member of Gate City United Methodist Church.
In additionto her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,
Morris Elliot Catron.
Survivors left to celebrate her life are her son, Larry and special
daughter-in-law, Joan Trent Catron of Gate City, Va.; daughter, Cathy
Catron Darnell and special son-in-law, Joel Darnell of Knoxville;
grandsons, Anthony andwife, Jeanie Catron, Josh and wife, Jennifer
Darnell, John Catron and JustinDarnell; great-granddaughter, Ashley
Catron; stepgrandchildren, Alton Trentand Lori Light; step

Family and friends are asked to meet at the church at 10:15 a.m. for
procession to the cemetery.

He lived at Kingsport, TN (Indian Springs), and was retired as
supervisor atKingsport Press after 51 yrs service. He served in the
U.S. Army during WW IIand was a member of the Silent Wings. He was a
member of First Christian Church of Kingsport and the Moose Lodge.

and was employed as a teacher and coach at Gate City HS and Tazewell
HS. He grad from Medical Coll of Va in 1962 and practiced dentistry
for 35 yrs in Gate City, retiring in 1977. Preceded in death by wife,

Aunt Peggy was a little woman but was saucey to make up for it. She
was
overcome with cancer which caused her untimely death after being in
remission
for several years after praying and asking the Lord to let her live
long enoughto see her son Scotty grown. The cancer returned during
his 21st year.
