FT. BLACKMORE, Va. _ Alice Fay Ball Sanders, 48, departed this life
Monday (June 5, 2000) at her residence.
She was born onJan. 27, 1952 in Scott County, Va.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hubert Ball in 1993; and one
brother, Wesley Ball, March 2000.
She worked inthe school cafeteria for Scott County School System for
several years. She was a Christian, a loving mother, wife and friend
to all who knew her.
Surviving are her husband, Charles Sanders, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; one
son, Adam Sanders, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; mother, Clyde Hensley Ball,
Gate City, Va.; three sisters, Juanita Williams, JoAnn Quillen and
Betty Carrico, all of Gate City, Va.; six nieces and nephews; seven
great-nieces and nephews; and all the children she knew and loved so
much.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Gate City Funeral Home
and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kelly Carter, the Rev. Herman
Quillen and the Rev. Clayton Williams officiating.
Music will be provided by the James McConnell Singers.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Holston
View Cemetery, Weber City, Va.
Pallbearers will be Scottie Williams, Tracey Quillen, David Quillen,
William Dean Jr., B.L. Dockery Jr., Marty Hammonds, Danny Craft and
Nathaniel Quillen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Mack Carrico, Garnie Williams and B.B.
Quillen Jr.
The family will be meet at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in
procession to the cemetery.

Fred Ezra Addington

NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Mr. Fred E. Addington, 73, entered into eternal
rest Sunday morning (Sept. 1, 2002) at his residence after a long
battle with cancer.
The son of the late Everett and Norma Addington, he was born January
22, 1929 in Scott County, Va., and moved to Kingsport in the early
1950's, coming back to the farm he loved in 1980.
He was a member of Addington Frame Church anda veteran of the U.S.
Army serving as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division.
He was a member of Nickelsville Fidelity Lodge #173, Order of Eastern
Star Chapter #188, Scott County Shrine Club, 32nd Degree Scottish Rite
Masonand the Jericho Shrine.
He was an avid fisherman, hunter and gardener. He retired from Mead
Corp. after 41 years of service.
In addition to his parents,his first wife, June Gillenwater Addington
in 1959; one brother, Glenn E. Addington; and infant granddaughter,
Rachel Addington preceded him in death.
Mr. Addington is survived by his wife of 41 years, Marie Stapleton
Addington, Nickelsville, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Doris and
Darell Dougherty, Nickelsville, Va.; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary
and June Addington, Ronnie and Lisa Addington and Anthony (Tony) and
Deanna Addington, all of Kingsport; 10 grandchildren, Shellie Ward,
Brian, Chris, Rosanna, Pam, Megan and Logan Addington, Crystal, Kayla
and Robyn Dougherty; one great-granddaughter, Cameron Brooke Ratliff;
mother-in-law, Daphne Stapleton, Nickelsville, Va.; two
stepgrandchildren, Lori Arms and Brandon Bowles; one sister, Eileen
Castle, Hampton, Va.; special foster family, Gary, Becky, Brittany,
Kevin, Kyle and Cody Murray, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the
Community Fellowship Baptist Church (located by the Scott County
Vocational School) and other times at the residence. Fidelity Lodge
#173 will conduct Masonic services following the visitation at 8 p.m.
Eastern Star serviceswill be conducted in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the Gate City FuneralHome at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday by the
Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #188.
Elder Eckel Head and Elder Roger Manring will conduct funeral services
at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday. The Addington Frame Singers will provide music.
Burial will follow the services at the Addington Frame Cemetery,
Nickelsville, Va., with military graveside rites conducted by the
Honor Guard of VFW Post #9864. Tom Addington, Jerry Larkey, Mark
Stallard, Ralph Sage, Clifford Estep and Roger Addington will serve as
pallbearers.
Members of Masonic Lodge #173 will serveas honorary pallbearers.
Donations may be made to the Nickelsville Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 237,
Nickelsville, Va. 24271.
