GATE CITY, Va. - James Shortridge, 61, entered into rest Tuesday (June
24, 2003) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Shortridge was born in Buchanan County, Va., on Sept. 18, 1941,
son of the late Thomas Clayton and EffieClora Rowe Shortridge.
He was a veteran of U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife, Retha Shortridge, Gate City; sons, Joshua
Shortridge and Mose Shortridge, both of Gate City; several brothers
and sisters; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 10 to 12 a.m. Thursday in the Juanita S.
Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 12 noon in the funeral home chapel with
Father Louis Scoulas and the Rev. Ronald King officiating.
Ashley King will provide music.
Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park with military graveside
rites conducted by the Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW.
Familyand friends will serve as pallbearers.
