Carl Luther "Bud" Sr Cobb

DUFFIELD, Va. - Carl Luther "Bud" Cobb Sr., 69, of Route 604, died
Sunday (July 25, 2004) at Norton Community Hospital after a lengthy
illness.
Born in Wise County, Va., on March 1, 1935, he was a son of the late
Lloyd L. and MaryEstelle Rogers Cobb. In addition to his parents, he
was preceded in death byhis brother, Lloyd L. Cobb Jr.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a retiree of Westmoreland Coal
Co., having worked at Wentz Coal and other operationsfor more than 29
years. He was a member of United Mine Workers of America Local 1405
and a longtime supporter of the Rye Cove High School sports.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou Hood Cobb of Duffield; son and
daughter-in-law,Carl L. Jr. and Teresa Cobb; daughter and son-in-law,
Joanna "Jodi" and Marty Qualls, all of Duffield; daughter and
son-in-law, Teresa and Steve Hooks, of Big Stone Gap; grandchildren,
Tabitha and husband Justin "Dough" Berry, ofDuffield, Rusty Qualls
and wife, Courtney, of Clinchport, Justin Qualls, Stephanie Cobb and
Samantha Cobb, all of Duffield, Mary Ruth Cantrell and JaimeeHooks,
of Big Stone Gap; great-grandchildren, Brennen and Ashlynn Berry, of
Duffield; sister, Betty Jacqueline Bishop, and sister-in-law, Ellen
Cobb, both of Jasper; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at The Duffield Funeral Home
at Thomas Village.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with Pastor Billy Ray Hughes officiating.
Music will be provided by the Wayne Maness Family.
Committalservices will be private.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the East Stone Gap Baptist
Church at 12 noon Thursday for a reception.


Larry Keith Esteppe

He lived most of his life in East Stone Gap, Va. He graduated from
Powell
Valley HS. He worked in maintenance for the Norton Housing Authority,
and was ageneral repairman in East Stone Gap. He was a veteran of the
US Army. The
children lived at home when he died. (from his obituary)

Died of an accidental gunshot wound from her husband when he handed
her a .22
cal pistol. Lived at Clinchport.

He lived at Duffield, Va (Jasper Community). He served asa staff
sergeant with the US Army Airborne Div during the Korean Conflict. He
was a retired welder with Westmoreland Coal Co. No g-ch mentioned.

8542. Mary Ann Lovell

KINGSPORT - Mary Ann Louvell Leonard, 61, 1213 Riverside Avenue,
passed awaySaturday (Aug. 4, 2001) at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mary Ann was a native of Scott County, Va., and had always lived in
the Kingsport area. She was a daughter of Anna Ruth Dockery Louvell
Booher and the late Worley W. Louvell. Mary Ann was a Protestant.
Prior to her illness, she was a dispatcher for Gilliam Cab Co., after
serving over 20 years in the Kingsport area as a cab driver.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her two sons, who died in a house
fire 35years ago, Mark Shelton, age eight, and Billy Shelton, age
seven; her father; and one brother, James M. Louvell.
Survivors include her husband, Robert J.Leonard, Rogersville; her
mother, Anna Ruth Louvell Booher, Kingsport; Scottand Robbie Arnold,
two special nephews whom she helped to raise after the tragic loss of
her sons, Kingsport; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Elise and Chris
Boone, Philadelphia, Pa.; a stepson, Jason Leonard, Philadelphia, Pa.;
three sisters, Bell and brother-in-law, Judge Lane, Clinchport, Va.,
Gladys and brother-in-law, Roy Rutherford, Big Stone Gap, Va., and Eva
and brother-in-law, Stan Callahan, Kingsport; one brother, Glenn
Louvell, Church Hill; mother-in-law, Grace Leonard, Morristown, N.Y.;
21 nieces and nephews; several great and great-great-nieces and
nephews.
The private memorial service for family and close friends will be held
at 7 p.m. Monday in The Little Log Cabin Church, Weber City, Va.
In lieu of flowers, as per Mary Ann's request, donationsare to be
made in memory of Mary Ann L. Leonard to the New Beginnings Church
Building Fund, c/o Rev. Jack Begley, 1316 Fairview Avenue, Kingsport,
Tenn. 37660.
Snyder's Funeral Home, Gray, is serving the Mary Ann L. Leonard
family.
