DUFFIELD, Va. - John ErvinDuncan, 69, passed away Wednesday (March 6,
2002) at V.A. Medical Center in Johnson City.
Born in Washington County, Va., on March 23, 1932, he was a son of the
late Rev. Dale Duncan and Mary Stacy Duncan. He was a U.S. Army
veteran having served during the Korean conflict and received the
Purple Heart medal. He was self-employed. He was a member of DAV No.
56, Wise, Va., and a charter member of Duffield Fire and Rescue Squad.
Mr. Duncan was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Marty and Rebecca Duncan,
Damascus, Va.; granddaughter, Emily Duncan; sisters, Phyllis Wallen,
Clinchport, Va., Shirley Duncan and Virginia Duncan, both of Duffield,
Va.; brothers,James Duncan, Duffield, Va., Thomas Duncan, Big Stone
Gap, Va., Bobby Duncan,Clinchport, Va.; four nephews and one niece.
The family wishes to express special thanks to Carl and Ron Rasnake of
Duffield, Va.
Calling hours are from7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime atthe residence.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1
p.m. with the Rev. Lonnie Townsend officiating.
Burial will be at Holston View Cemetery with military graveside
services conducted by the VFW Post No. 4301, Norton, Va., and DAV No.
56, Wise Va.
Serving as pallbearers areCarl Rasnake, Ron Rasnake, Larry Bishop,
Denny Dishner, Gerald Miller, Johnny Johnson.
Members of the Duffield Fire Dept. will serve as honorary pallbearers.

CLINCHPORT, Va. - Waylen Lane, 64, of Route 4, passed away Wednesday
(May 5, 2004) at his residence after a short illness.
Born in Scott County on Nov. 15, 1939, hewas the son of the late
Charlie and Goldie Rhoton Lane.
He was formerly employed with J.P. Stevens and attended Pendleton
Freewill Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra Dingus Lane, of the home; mother of his
children, Lucy Lane; daughters, Lisa Russell, Angela Summey and
husband Ronnie, all of Clinchport, Va.; son, Everette Waylen Lane Jr.
and wife Sherry, Gate City, Va.; grandchildren, Phebe and Hannah Lane,
Brandon Darnell, Steve Summey and wife Christie; great-grandchild,
Caitlin Summey; stepdaughter, Gwenda Hall and husband Tom, Gate City,
Va.; stepson, Shannon McClellan, Clinchport, Va.; sisters, Glenda
Summey and husband Glenn, Church Hill, Stella Kern and husband Emory,
Clinchport, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and also at his residence and the residence of a
daughter, Angela Summey.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with Pastor Kevin Sanders, Pastor Fred Gillenwater, and the Rev.
Kenneth Neeley officiating.
Walking ByFaith will provide the music.
Graveside services will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Lane Cemetery,
Clinchport, Va. The family will meet at the funeral home at1 p.m. to
go in procession to the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
