Drowned in boating acident in Percy preast lake in Nashville Tn. He is
burried
at Double springs Church. He was 26 yrs old and worked for the Army
Core of
Engineers.

9247. Delmer Ray Roberts
KINGSPORT - Delmer Ray Roberts, 69, Lone Star Road, went to be with
the Lordat 7 p.m. on Tuesday (Sept. 26, 2000) at Wellmont Holston
Valley Medical Center, following an extended illness.
Mr. Roberts was born in Greene County, Tenn. and resided in Sullivan
County most of his life. He was an employee of Kingsport Press, now
Quebecor, retiring in 1979 after 28 years of service.
Delmer was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U.S. Army, and
was a memberof Disabled American Veterans and a member of Masonic
Lodge No. 688.
He wasa member of Sullivan Baptist Church where he had served as a
deacon and Sunday School superintendent.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Flossie Adams
Roberts; brother, Elmer Lee Roberts; and an infant brother.
Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Helen L. Roberts, of the home; one
son and daughter-in-law, Del Ray and Donna Roberts, Clinton, Tenn.;
two grandchildren, Shane Roberts and Chessa Roberts; three sisters,
Nell Pugh and husband Lewis,Mesa, Arizona, Virginia Roberson and
husband Lowell, Kingsport, and Louise Cookenour and husband Don; one
brother, Roy Roberts and wife Virginia, Greeneville, Tenn.; and
several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral
Home, downtown.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with Pastor Jeff Strong and theRev. Orville Dolen officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in East Lawn
Memorial Park with military rites conducted by CharlesDeWitt Byrd
Post No. 3382 of the V.F.W.
Friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorials may be given to Sullivan Baptist Church, 4152 Maplewood
Street, Kingsport, Tenn. 37660, or to a charity of the donorus choice.
