9756. Kyle James Jr Sluss

Lived at Gray, TN in 1998.
GRAY - Kyle James Sluss Jr., 58, went to be with his Lord Saturday
(Jan. 18, 2003) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
Kyle was born April 26, 1944 in Sullivan and was a son of the late
Kyle James Sr. and Elsie (Skelton) Sluss. He was an electrical
contractor and a security guard for Guardsmark before retiring due to
his health.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, founding member of the
Kingsport Archery Club and member of the NRA. He was very active with
the Boy Scouts for several years and lovedthe outdoors.
In addition to his parents, Kyle was preceded in death by a nephew,
Mark Hutton; and a brother-in-law, Donnie Burrell.
Kyle was a wonderfulhusband, father and friend.
Surviving are his wife, Edna Burrell Sluss of thehome; son and
daughter-in-law, James (Jimmy) Paul Sluss and his wife Tammieof
Kingsport; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and W.D. Hutton of
Winter Garden, Fla., and Jackie and Calvin Caldwell of Kingsport. Also
survivingis a special angel, Daisha; several special sons/daughters
and godchildren;several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at East Lawn Funeral Home
and anytime at the home of hisson Jimmy, 1268 E. Sullivan Court,
Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at1 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Joe Hill officiating.
Graveside and burial will follow in the East Lawn Memorial Park.
Cousins and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Earl Edward Bishop

DUFFIELD, Va. - Earl Edward Bishop, 61, went to be with the Lord early
Thursday morning (Jan. 1, 2004).
Born in Scott County, Va., he was a son of the lateRev. Patrick Kane
Bishop and Elizabeth Carter Bishop and was a retiree of AFG
industries.
First in his life was his Lord and Savior and church, then hiswife,
family and friends. He enjoyed 30-plus years of living part time on
Holston Lake, fishing and boating on his yacht. He loved his special
friendsat the lake.
He attended Rye Cove High School and graduated from Scott County
Vocational School with a certification as a machinist.
He was a deacon of the Clinchport Freewill Baptist Church and a former
member of the Duffield Lions Club. He was a 30-plus year member of the
Clinchport Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his
father-in-law, Dayton Sluss; and brother-in-law, Aaron Bowen.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Linda Sluss Bishop; daughter,
Michelle Bishop Morelock of Rogersville; son, Eddie Bishop and wife
Michelle (Luce) Bishop of Duffield, Va.; grandsons, Allen Qualls and
Eric Qualls of Kingsport and Hunter Bishop of Duffield, Va.;
great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Qualls of Kingsport; sister, Linda Bowen
of Duffield; brothers, Jimmy Bishop of Duffield, and William Donald
Bishop of Carters Valley; special sister-in-law and care giver,
Loretta Bishop; mother-in-law, Pearl Sluss of Dungannon, Va.; and
several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. today at The Duffield Funeral Home
at Thomas Village.
Services will be conducted 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Bill Nelson, the Rev. Roger Herron and the Rev. Gene
Stallard officiating.
Music will be provided by the Mabe Quartet.
Committal service will be 1 p.m.Sunday in the Bishop Family Cemetery
in Duffield.
Pallbearers will be JamesMullins, Allen Qualls, Eric Qualls, Gary
Morelock, Guy Sizemore, Clayton Tate, Warren Bishop, Billie Bishop and
Tim Bowen.
Honorary pallbearers will be Guy France, Kyle Carter, Keith Hammonds,
Ricky France, David Dockery,"Pup" Ward, Pat Dingus, Bill Ward, and the
Duffield staff of Quality Care Ambulance Service.

She was born in Chicago, and had lived in this area for the past three
yrs. Preceded in death by g-father Willie Lane. Surv by parents
Carmelo & Dorothy Rosario Jr of Gate City, paternal g-parents,
maternal g-mother Edna Lane; g-g-parents W. D. Dockery & Amily Lane; 1
half-sis Lila Rosario. Calling at homeof uncle, Dwight Lane. (from

Virgil Charlie "Hop" Gilliam

He lived at Ft Blackmore, Va, and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surv by wife Dorothy Lane Gilliam, 3 dau, 1 son, 3 g-sons, 1 g-g-son,
5 sis, 5 bros. (from his obituary)
Since Dorothy was still married to Rosario in 1994, it seemsthat
Virgil had an earlier marriage with the 3 children. Parents of all
children are speculative.
Lived at Kingsport in 1982.
