11378. Bertha Emma Jean Hensley

Lived in Ft Blackmore, VA in 1991, 2000.
FT. BLACKMORE, Va. - Bertha Emma JeanHensley Dean, 69, died Monday
(Jan. 20, 2003) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center with family
by her side.
Mrs. Dean was born May 4, 1933. She wasthe daughter of the late
Charlie "Chuck'' Hensley, Sept. 9, 1991, and MamieLawson Hensley,
March 6, 1937.
She was a homemaker and attended Fellowship Chapel Church.
Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter,
Donna Marie Dean Sanders on Jan. 30, 1994; brothers, Elmer Hensley and
Cecil Kinkead.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Herman Dean, Ft. Blackmore,
Va.; one daughter and son-in-law, Benny (Kathy) Hass, Clinchport, Va.;
three sons and daughter-in-law, Eddie and Brenda Dean, Danny Dean and
Daniel Dean, all of Ft. Blackmore, Va.; seven grandchildren, Steven
Dean, Timmy Dean, Robin Poole, Michael Sanders Jr., Crystal Hass
Dorton, Justin Hass, NoahHass; four great-grandchildren, Mariesha
Dorton, Summer Dean, Kayla Porter, Dustin Porter; six brothers, Homer
(Toke), Sidney (Rook), Billy and Brodis Hensley, all of Ft. Blackmore,
Va., Roy (Doss) and Jim Hensley, both of Gate City, Va.; stepmother,
Mattie Hensley, Gate City, Va.; special friends, Francis(Sib)
Sanders, Ft. Blackmore, Va.; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Calling hours are from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Gate City Funeral
Home.
Services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Gene Falin
Memorial Chapel ofthe funeral home with the Rev. Denny Hass and the
Rev. Cecil Kerns officiating.
Music will be provided by Toke Hensley, James (Babe) Lawson and
Phillip Elliott.
Burial will follow the service at the Lawson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore,
Va.
Pallbearers will be Timmy Dean, Steven Dean, Michael Sanders Jr.,
Justin Hass, Dustin Porter, Jr. Lawson, Steve Darnell and Scotty
Hensley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Lawson, Lucian Lawson and Rufus
Pierson.

Walter Scott Jr Mann

DUNGANNON, Va. _ Walter ''Scott'' Mann Jr., 64, Route 1, entered into
rest Friday (May 5, 2000) at his residence.
Mr. Mann was born in Dungannon, Va. on July 13, 1935, a son of the
late Walter Scott Mann Sr. and Mary Osborne Mann.
Mr. Mann retired from Willamette (Mead) in Kingsport, Tenn.
In addition to hisparents he was preceded in death by a brother, Fred
Mann.
Surviving are hiswife, Lucy Hensley Mann, Dungannon, Va.; daughter
and son-in-law, Teresa andWayne Sluss, Nickelsville, Va.; son, Jeff
Mann, Dungannon, Va.; brother, Alfred Mann, Kingsport; grandson,
Jordon Sluss; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Gate City Funeral Home and
other times at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Kelly Carter officiating.
Music will be provided by Cleda Sampson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at Osborne
Family Cemetery, Dungannon, Va.
The familywill be meeting at the cemetery at 10:50 a.m. for the
graveside.
Pallbearerswill be Allen Hillman, Freddie Osborne, George Hensley,
Joe Hensley, Billy Hensley and James Hensley Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Horne, ClaytonWilliams and Harold
Osborne.

Lester F. Mann

Lived in Kingsport in 1999.
KINGSPORT - Lester F. Mann, 76, 851 Big Ridge Road, passed away
Wednesday (Nov. 22, 2000) after a brief illness.
Born in FortBlackmore, Va., he was a son of the late Frank B. and
Katherine Payne Mann. He was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World
War II, where he was a gunner ona B-17 bomber. He retired from
Eastman Kodak in 1982 and since then had beenactive in the
construction business.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Allen Mann, Albert Mann; three sisters, RubyDockery, Marie Williams
and Garnet Clark.
Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Gladys Hensley Mann; a
daughter, Deborah Moody and husband, Joe, Church Hill; four sons,
David Mann and wife, Helena, Jackie Mann and wife, Bobbie, Michael
Mann, Gary Mann, all of Kingsport; 10 grandchildren, Lisa Williams,
Kim Carter, Heather Mann, Derek Mann, Rebecca McConnell, Jason Mann,
Scott Mann, Brooke Mann, Lola Morelock, Erica Mann; five
great-grandchildren, D.J. Williams, Adam Carter, Hannah Carter, Tyler
Mann, Taylor Mann; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at East Lawn FuneralHome.
Services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Orville Dolan and the Rev. Junior Parker officiating.
Gravesideservices and interment will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in East
Lawn Memorial Park.
