wife from an earlier marriage, and was adopted byHouston; Ralph died

KINGSPORT - Virginia Fields Darnell, 78,Lakeside Drive, went to be
with the Lord late Saturday afternoon (Nov. 6, 2004) at Wellmont
Holston Valley Medical Center.
Born in Wise County, Va., shehad moved to Kingsport over 30 years
ago. She was retired from Kingsport Laundry Company.
Mrs. Darnell was a member of Open Door Assembly (Pentecostal faith),
Lebanon, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Darnell; two sons,
Richard Darnell and Terry Darnell; her parents, Isaac Fields Sr. and
Nettie Thacker Fields.
Surviving are three daughters, Louise Boggs and husband Benny,
Kingsport, Judy Lawson and husband Rev. Robert Lawson, Lebanon, Va.,
Nancy Darnell, Kingsport; three sons, Gary Darnell and wife Cheryl,
Norton, Va., Lynn Darnell and Dennis Darnell, both of Kingsport; 12
grandchildrenand 16 great-grandchildren; four brothers, Alvin Fields,
Ravenna, Ohio, Harry Fields, Kingsport, Frank Fields, Big Stone Gap,
Va., Isaac Fields Jr., Wise, Va.; five sisters, Alice Fields, Glessie
Thompson, Jean Robinette, all of Norton, Va., Esther Fields,
Kingsport, Thelma Fleenor, Gate City, Va.
Callinghours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home,
downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Robert Lawson and the Rev. Donald Harding
officiating.
Music will be provided by soloists, Becky Lawson, Lorie Darnell and
Robin Light, and the Harding Family Singers.
Graveside services will follow in Tri-Cities Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandsons-in-law.
Carter-Trent Funeral Home is serving the Darnell family.

KINGSPORT - John (Jube) M. Winegar Jr., 74, NassauDrive, went to be
with the Lord Wednesday (Nov. 28, 2001) at his residence after an
extended illness.
Born in Ft. Blackmore, Va., Mr. Winegar had been employed with Holston
Defense Corp. for 32 years as a maintenance supervisor.He was a
veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy on board the
U.S.S. Ordronaux in operations off the coast of Italy and the invasion
ofFrance in 1944. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his son, John David Winegar; parents, John
M. and Callie Estep Winegar Sr.; a sister, Kathleen Cox; and an infant
sister, Patsy Mevaline.
Surviving are his wife of54 years, Carmen Deloris Wilson Winegar, of
the home; daughters, Debbie Norris and husband Sid, Kingsport, Becky
Mann and husband Buzzy, Kingsport; sons,Sam Winegar and wife Patty,
Kingsport, Mike Winegar and wife Lori, Kingsport; a daughter-in-law,
Sarah Winegar, Church Hill; grandchildren, Kristi and husband Donnie
Henley, Chris, Michelle, John, Heather, Haleigh, Austin and Adam;
great-grandchildren, Callie and Hunter; sisters, Margaret Whisman and
husband Fred, Cleveland, Tenn., Helen Hyde and husband Bill,
Baltimore, Md.; a brother, Herbert Winegar and wife Uvelyn, Kingsport.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Oak Hill Funeral Home and
anytime at the residence on Nassau Drive.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Frank Crawford officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Saturday
at Oak Hill Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American
Legion Hammond Post #3.
