KINGSPORT - Jerry Joe Pendleton, 50, of Route 1,Manville community,
passed away Sunday (Dec. 5, 2004) at his residence as a result of an
accident.
He was born in Sullivan County on Dec. 31, 1953 and had resided in
Scott County all of his life. Mr. Pendleton was of the Baptist faith.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herman Harold Pendleton;
sister, Billie Lynn Hillman; nephew, Teddy Douglas Pendleton, Jr.
Surviving are hismother, Olene Williams Pendleton, Gate City, Va.;
sister and brother-in-law,Bobbie and Billy Tignor, Gate City, Va.;
brothers and sisters-in-law, Dillard Faye and Shelby Pendleton,
Hendersonville, Nev., Teddy and Carolyn Pendleton, Buddy and Sonia
Pendleton, all of Gate City, Va.; several nieces, nephews,aunts, and
uncles.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial
Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., and other times at the residence.
Services will be conducted at the funeral home chapel at 8 p.m. with
Evangelist Bill Tignor and Evangelist James Holcomb officiating. The
eulogy will be given by Steve Tignor.
Music will be provided by Mona Holcomb, Darrin Pendletonand Evan
Holcomb.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12 noon Thursdayat the Adams
Cemetery, Route 1, Gate City, Va. The family will meet at the
cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Quillen, Phil Quillen, Steve
Tignor, Darrin Pendleton, Greg Ashworth, Willie Dockery, and Allen
Pendleton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Sonny Starnes, Tommy Grizzle, Tony

CHURCH HILL - TroyJ. Williams, 81, passed away late Thursday evening
(March 13, 2003) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, Va. (Hill Station) andmoved to Kingsport
55 years ago. He retired from Penn-Dixie Cement Plant after over 35
years of service.
Mr. Williams was a charter member of Oak Drive Independence Church. He
was a senior deacon and was Sunday school superintendent. He was also
a member of the Church Hill Prayer Group.
He was a wonderfulhusband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Evertte Williams and Lydia
McClellan Williams; and one sister, June Pendleton.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Emma Fields Williams, of
the home;daughter, Judy Carter and husband Benny, Church Hill; a son,
Larry Williams,Church Hill; grandchildren, Elizabeth Kelly and
husband Shawn, Terance Carter and wife Pam, John Carter and wife
Misty, Joey Williams and Nikki Williams;five great-grandchildren;
sisters, Olene Pendleton, Gate City, Va., Vivian Nash, Kingsport,
Frances Starnes and husband Eddie, Gate City, Va.; and several nieces
and nephews.
Calling hours were from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, (March 15, 2003) at
Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will beconducted at 2 p.m. today at Oak Drive Independence
Church with the Rev. Wrightly Salling, Pastor Eddie Whitley and the
Rev. Shannon Powers officiating.
Mr. Williams will be taken to the church one hour prior to the
service.
Burial will follow the service at Oak Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be deacons of Oak Drive Independence Church and the
Church Hill Prayer Group. Honorary pallbearers will be Benny Carter
and his grandsons.

KINGSPORT - Isaac (Ike) L. Pendleton, 81, passed away Monday (Nov. 19,
2001) at Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in the Manville community of Scott County, Va., on April
11, 1920. He was the son of the late Robert Patton Pendleton and Sarah
Ervin Pendleton.
Mr. Pendleton was owner of Pendleton's Grocery.
In addition to hisparents, he was preceded in death by his wife,
Dorothy June Williams Pendleton; sisters, Myrtle P. Pierson, Edith P.
Grimm, Margaret Pendleton, Madge Pendleton; brothers, Sol, Hayden,
Bill and Lloyd Pendleton.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Phyllis and Bill
Quillen, of Kingsport; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Steve and
Lois Pendleton, of Gray, Keith Ike Pendleton, Kenneth Mike and Barbara
Pendleton, all of Kingsport (Bloomingdale community); grandchildren,
Jason, Matt, Kevin, Kristy, Brian and Tiffany Pendleton;
great-grandchildren, Lauren and Jason Pendleton; several nieces and
nephews.

KINGSPORT - Janice A. (Cushman) Watkins Manuel, 78, went to be with
her Lord Thursday (Sept. 26, 2002) atthe Sunbridge Health Care Center
after a long illness.
Janice was born Sept. 4, 1924 in Scott County, Va., a daughter of the
late Robert and Pearl (McClellan) Cushman. She was a former employee
of the Tennessee Eastman Co.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her second
husband, JohnC. Manuel in 1980; and a very special aunt, Myrtle
Williams.
Janice is survived by her family, three sons and daughters-in-law,
David and Debbie Watkinsof Kingsport, Johnny and Sharon Watkins and
Winfield Watkins Jr., all of Blountville; a former husband and friend,
Winfield Watkins Sr. of Kingsport; stepsons and wives, Bill and
Shirley Watkins of Blountville, and Bob and Wanda Watkins of
Kingsport; grandchildren, Kyndra Watkins Cole, Perry Watkins, Tammy
Watkins Smith and Bobo Watkins; and one great-granddaughter, Breanna
Watkins.

accident.
Born in Gate City, Va., he had resided in Kingsport most of his life.
Mr. Haynes was a painter by trade for most of his adult life.He was a
loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Mr. Haynes was of the Holiness faith.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert and Gertrude Haynes;
son, Richard Ray Haynes Jr.; one grandson, Danny Wayne Wilson; and two
brothers, Hobert F. Haynes and John W. Haynes.
Surviving are his wife, Pauline Haynes; three daughters, Brenda Wilson
and husband, Bill, Sandra Falin, and Tammy Haynes; one son, Donnie
Haynes and wife, Pamela, all of Kingsport; eight grandchildren; eight
great-grandchildren; two brothers, Edward L. Haynes and wife,
Margaret, Kingsport, Paul J. Haynes and wife, Ethel, Columbus, Ga.;
and several nieces and nephews.

stepdaughter, Mrs. Paul (Betty) Atkins of Kingsport; two sons, John

Kingsport; three brothers, Edward Haynes of Kingsport, Paul Jack
Haynes of Atlanta, Ga. and Robert RayHaynes of Kingsport; seven
grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and
several nieces and nephews.
