KINGSPORT - William S. Kilgore, 74, went home tobe with Jesus on
Sunday (Jan. 30, 2005) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born on June 13, 1930 in Scott County, Va., to Robert and Reba
Kilgore. He was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a
medic. He traveled and worked all over the U.S.A.
He was preceded in death by his parents,Robert and Reba Kilgore; a
sister, Norma Jean; two brothers, Darius Kilgoreand John (Junior)
Kilgore; and his mother-in-law whom he loved dearly, Mary Absher.
Survivors include his children, Beverly Newland of Johnson City, Towma
Williams and husband Phil of Kingsport, Billy Kilgore of Tevares,
Fla., andJeanie Kalmback of Silver Springs, Fla.; four grandchildren,
Melissa Greene,Kimberly Stapleton, Kristi Camo and Jamey Williams;
six great-grandchildren;two brothers, Elliott Kilgore and wife
Shirley and Fred Kilgore and wife Virginia; and a special friend and
neighbor, Willie.
Calling hours will be from5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral
Home, downtown Kingsport. Family and friends may also call anytime at
the home of his daughter, Towma Williams,639 Dora St., Kingsport.
A memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. G.W. White and the Rev. Jonathan Lovelace officiating.

12118. John "Junior" Kilgore
DAYTON, Ohio - John Kilgore, 63, died Saturday (Aug. 17, 2002) at
MontgomeryCounty Fairgrounds after an extended illness.
Born in Scott County, Va., on Oct. 4, 1938, he trained and raced
harness horses throughout the United Statesfor 40 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Kilgore and Rebah
McClellan Kilgore Giffen; a sister, Norma Jean Camper; and a brother,
Robert Darius.
Surviving are three daughters, Ynona Finch, Livingston, Tenn., Renee
Davidson, Nashville, Tenn., Tammy Kilgore, Monterey, Tenn.; one son,
John Kilgore, Georgia; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, William
Kilgore, Ocala, Fla., Elliott and Shirley Kilgore, Kingsport, and Fred
and Virginia Kilgore, Kingsport; an ex-wife, also a special friend,
Karen Smith Kilgore; twostepdaughters, Amy Nelson, Kingsport, and
Tammy Nelson Miguel, Katy, Texas; several grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
A memorial service will be held at7 p.m. Monday at Gravely Baptist
Church, 500 Gravely Road, with the Rev. David Salley officiating.
The family will receive friends in the fellowship hallfollowing the
service .
In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made to the
American Cancer Society.

KINGSPORT - Karen Faye Smith Kilgore, 51, passed away Sunday (July 20,
2003)at Holston Valley Medical Center after a brief illness and
complications dueto surgery.
She attended Lynn View High School and graduated from Ider High
School, Ider, Ala. She also attended Lake Sumpter Community College,
Leesburg, Fla., and graduated from Kingsport School of Practical
Nursing. She was employed with The St. Paul Insurance Co. in Maitland,
Fla., in the Case Management and Cost Containment Department.
She was of the Baptist faith.
She was preceded in death by her father, Floyd Eason Smith;
ex-husband, John Kilgore; and her maternal grandparents.
Surviving are her mother, Bettie Jones Dolan; herdaughters, Amy
Nelson, Kingsport, and Tammy Nelson Miguel, Katy, Texas;
grandchildren, Brandon, Christopher and Aaron Morrison and Alexandra
Miguel; brothers, J. Cole Dolan and wife Connie, Kingsport, David
Dolan and wife Tina,Fallston, Md., and Jason Smith, Philadelphia,
Pa.; sister, Melody Dimitriousand husband Steve, Woodstock, Ga.;
aunts, Virginia Kilgore and husband Fred and Shirley Kilgore and
husband Elliott, both of Kingsport.
Services will beconducted at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Carter-Trent Funeral
Home Chapel of Kingsport with Pastor David Salley officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service and
anytime at the residence, 1636 G St., and also at the aunt's
residence, 205 Live Oak Drive, Kingsport.

12122. James Thomas Blackard
KINGSPORT - James Thomas Blackard, 68, of 300 Summit Oak Drive, went
to be with the Lord Monday (July 10, 2000) in the James H. Quillen VA
Medical Center,Mountain Home, Tenn. after a period of declining
health.
James was born inHiltons, Va. on May 14, 1932 to the late Allen Aaron
Blackard and Opal McClellan Blackard of Kingsport.
He retired having worked as a heating and air conditioning repairman
for the Hillard Company. He was a member of the American Legion. James
was a veteran serving with the United States Army. James was a
devoted, sincere and loving father and son.
Other than his mother, James is surviving by two daughters, Mrs. Dale
(Wanda K.) Starnes, Church Hill, Teresa Clayton, Kingsport; son, James
Thomas Blackard Jr., Kingsport; three brothers,Elmer (Bud) Blackard,
Virginia, Howard Blackard and Richard Blackard, both of Maryland;
grandchildren, Amber Brook Charles, Kaylee Starnes, Chadwin James
Clayton, Schuyler Clayton; and one great grandchild, Christopher Lee
Charles; several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the East Lawn Funeral
Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in thefuneral home chapel
with the Rev. Shannon Salyer officiating.
Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Holston View
Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the American Legion
Hammond Post No. 3 of Kingsport.
