12321. William Paul Wheat
KINGSPORT - William Paul Wheat, 72, died Tuesday (Aug. 21, 2001) at
Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was a lifelong resident of Sullivan County (Kingsport), and served
in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired as a
self-employed brickmason.
He was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where he served as an
usher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joel andLois Elliott Wheat;
one brother, Joe Wheat; and a sister, Mildred Wheat Johnson.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Nell Lane Wheat, of the home; sons and
daughters-in-law, Richard Wayne Wheat, Chesapeake, Va., David Lynn
Wheat and hiswife Linda, Lockford, Calif., and Steven Brian Wheat,
Jonesborough; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren;
sisters, Joan Wheat Robinette and Patsy Wheat Covey, both of Kingsport
and Wonell Wheat Layton, Rapid City, S.D.;brother, Robert Gregory
Wheat, Kingsport; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Carter-Trent Funeral
Home, downtown Kingsport.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Tabernacle Baptist
Church (Bloomingdale Pike) with Pastor Cecil Sturgill officiating.
Thebody will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
Burial will be in theMountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain
Home, Tenn.
