KINGSPORT - Julia M. Gillenwater, 88, went to be with the Lord Friday
(May 17, 2002) at Baysmont Health Care Center.
Ms. Gillenwater was born in the Midway community of Scott County, Va.,
and was a resident of the Kingsportcommunity for the last 50 years.
She retired from Eastman in 1975 after 31 years of service in the yarn
plant. She loved her family and working in her flowers.
Ms. Gillenwater was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers
andthree sisters.
Surviving are three sisters-in-law; special niece, Lyla and husband
Hugh Williams; and 11 nieces and nephews. Calling hours are from 1 to
2 p.m. today at Oak Hill Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with Larry Munsey officiating.
Graveside services will follow the funeral and will be held at Oak
Hill Cemetery.
In lieuof flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the
individual's choice.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nursing staff at
Baysmontfor their loving care and service.

Asof now, I have no valid info that Mary and Hiram are brother and
sister. I dohave a letter from cousin Macie Manns Church, MI who Mary
Lane Manns' husband (my gr grandfather) lived with before he died.
He gave Macie this pictureof Hiram Lane telling her it was grandma
Mary's brother. I have also scannedthe back of the picture. To my
knowledge, this is a quote:

guess you will hang this in your garden to keep the chickens out.
Don't let any of the girls see this as I will come out sometime and it
would fix the thing with me. I doin't wear that mustache you see now,

I am also sending a picture of Mary Lane Manns and her husband Milroy.
My grandmother kept a dress of Mary Lane's and I had the opportunity
to view it last Memorial Day. The dress appeared the be the size of
a girl'ssize 12. In other words, very very very small, so Mary Lane
was a very small woman. I would say 4'10".
