CLINCHPORT, Va. - Alba Cox Casteel, 84, of Route 4, passed away Monday
(June 24, 2002) atthe Brian Center in Weber City, Va.
She was born in Scott County on March 8, 1918, and was the daughter of
the late Ernest and Emma Sanders Cox. She was ahomemaker, and a good
wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Mrs.Casteel was a member of Valley Creek Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers,
Clarence and Oscar Cox.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Lonnie Casteel; son and
daughter-in-law, Franklin and Betty Casteel, Weber City, Va.; daughter
and son-in-law, Tana and Fred Gilliam, Gloster, Miss.; grandchildren,
Neawonna Meade, Sherry Spivey, Garrett Gilliam; great-grandchildren,
Shanoah and Matti-Jo Spivey, Jarrett and Denver Gilliam; sisters,
Lottie Robinette, Norton, Va., Marie Cox, Ida Cox, Shirley Cox, Tessa
Cox, all of Duffield, Va.; special sister-in-law,Nell Horton; several
nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m.today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residenceof Franklin Casteel, 144
Yuma Rd., Weber City.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. R.J. Osborne, Elder Clarence Huffman, Pastor
Larry Spivey and Pastor Greg Huffman officiating.
Music will be provided by Shelby Greear and Justin Williams.
Burial will be at Holston View Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be Garrett Gilliam, JimmyMeade, Randall
Spivey, Earl Babb, Roger Carter, Bobby Johnson and Malcolm Hill.
Nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.
