Paul Jeffery "Jeff" Steffey

Lived at Nickelsville in 2001.
NICKELSVILLE, Va. - Paul Jeffery Steffey, 48, of Route 2, began his
journey with the Lord as he entered into eternal rest athis residence
on Tuesday (Nov. 6, 2001) following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Scott County on April 15, 1953. He was employed by
Barger Leasing for many years before becoming a self-employed truck
driver. At the time of his illness, he was employed with Baker
Construction. He enjoyed part-time farming.
Mr. Steffey attended House of Prayer Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Steffey.
Surviving are his loving wife, Charlotte Clark Steffey, Nickelsville,
Va.; son and daughter-in-law, Travis and Jennifer Steffey,
Nickelsville, Va.; mother, Geneva Graham Steffey, Gate City,Va.; two
stepsons, Robbie Martin, Nickelsville, Va., and Christopher Williams,
Toomsuba, Miss.; one stepgrandchild, Takota Martin, Dungannon, Va.;
threesisters and two brothers-in-law, Shirley and Jack Taylor,
Nickelsville, Va.,Peggy and Bob Tyus and Donna Steffey Casteel, all
of Gate City, Va.; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Anita
Steffey, Nickelsville, Va., and Johnny and Kathy Steffey, Gate City,
Va.; special friends, Roy Kinkead and EarlCasteel, Gate City, Va.;
several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City, Va., and anytime at the residence.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. G.W. White and the Rev. Don Large officiating. Music
will be provided by Living Waters Trio.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Steffey
Family Cemetery. The family will meet at the funeral home at 10 a.m.
to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Roy Kinkead, Henry Ashworth, David Dotson, Aaron
Steffey, Justin White, Tommy Gilmer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Taylor, BobTyus, Doyle White and
Darrel Dougherty.

GATE CITY, Va. - Paul Charles Lane, 55, entered into rest Thursday
(March 14,2002) at his residence after a lengthy and courageous
battle with cancer.
Hewas born in Sullivan County on March 28, 1946 to the late Erasmus
Isaac andMossie Gilliam Lane.
He served in Vietnam with United States Air Force. He wasa charter
member of Daniel Boone Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon,
Sunday school teacher and treasurer. He also retired from Quebecor
after36 years of service.
Survivors include his wife, Janelle Bishop Lane, Gate City, Va.;
daughter and son-in-law, Amy Rebecca and Curtis Hagy and an unborn
grandchild, Church Hill; brothers and sisters-in-law, G.W. and Linda
Lane, Emmett, Idaho, Dealmus and Charolette Lane, Church Hill;
brothers-in-law and wives, Wayne and Mary Bishop, Weber City, Va.,
Eddie and Lynn Bishop, Kingsport, Michael Bishop, Kingsport;
sisters-in-law and husbands, Ernestine Powers, Gate City, Va., Audrey
and Ken Ervin, Weber City, Va. and Beverly and J.L. Rhoton, Hiltons,
Va.; aunt and uncle, Parlee and Roy Perry, Edison, Tenn.; uncle, Newt
Gilliam, Rogersville, Tenn.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Gate City Funeral Home.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel with the Rev. R.D. Stallard and the Rev. Dean Smith
officiating.
Music will be providedby The Inspirational Sounds.
Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Holston View
Cemetery, Weber City, Va., conducted by Charles DeWittByrd Post No.
3382 of the V.F.W. The family will be meeting at 10:15 a.m. atthe
funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be William Bishop, Ken Ervin, Ben Head, Lowell
Campbell, Scott Sheridan, Glenn Perry, J.L. Rhoton and Michael Bishop.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jessie Jones,Men at Quebecor and Men of
Daniel Boone Baptist Church.

13433. Roy Thomas Walker

ROGERSVILLE - Mr. Roy Thomas (Tommy) Walker, 59, of 744 Mountain View
Road, passed away Saturday (March 30, 2002) at the Johnson City
Medical Center following a brief illness.
Mr. Walker was a native of Clinchport, Va., and had lived in Hawkins
County since 1964. He was employed by the Sullivan County School
System with 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He waspreceded in death by one son, Tommy Lynn Walker; paternal
grandparents, Rossand Molly Walker; maternal grandparents, John and
Loudema Rhoton.
Survivorsinclude his loving wife of 38 years, Lucille (Lucy) Gilbert
Walker, of the home; parents, Roy and Cora Lee Rhoton Walker of
Clinchport Va.; three sistersand brother-in-laws, Patricia and Billy
Berry of Clinchport, Va., Betty and Chuck Funderburg of Tipp City,
Ohio, and Linda and Hal Reminger of Bluff City;one brother and
sister-in-law, Jerry and Janice Walker of Kingsport; mother-in-law,
Lula Crawford of Mount Carmel; several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call anytime at the residence of his parents in
Clinchport, Va., and his mother-in-law, Lula Crawford, 146 Birch St.,
Mount Carmel.
Military gravesideservices will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Bowser
Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Hawkins County Color
Guard.
Pallbearers will be AlvisArnold, Alex Arnold, Douglas Head, Michael
Gilbert, Steve Harless, Jonathan Taylor and Jeff Walker.
Honorary pallbearer will be Tonya Harless.
In lieu offlowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the American
Heart Associationand to the Christine LaGuardia Phillips Cancer
Center.
Johnson Funeral Home, Church Hill, is in charge of arrangements.
