JONESVILLE, Va. - Kenneth Ray Penley, 67, died Saturday (Dec. 27,
2003) at Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Va.
Born in Lee County, Va., he was a resident of Jonesville. He was
employed in furniture sales and worked for International Harvester for
16 years. He was a member of the U.A.W.
He wasa veteran, Master Sgt. in the U.S. Army, having served for 8
years, including serving during the Korean War. He was a member of
Gilbert Davis American Legion Post #157 in Churubusco, Ind.
He was of the Seventh-day Adventist faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence B. and Doris
Hannaford Penley; brother, David Penley; one stepson, Byron Walker.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Helen Russell Penley of the
home; one son, Kenneth R. PenleyII of Alvilla, Ind.; one
stepdaughter, Teresa Bobbitt of Chardon, Ohio; three granddaughters,
Jamie, Amber and Chelsey; three stepgrandsons, Ronald, Shane and
Thomas; two brothers, Delmar Penley and wife Betty of Big Stone Gap,
Va., Roy Penley and wife Margaret of Berkley Springs, W.Va.; one
sister, Marilynn Kline of Columbus, Ohio; many loving nieces and
nephews; his special friends, Marty Seabolt, Steve Strong, James
Roberts, Dennis Barber, Glenn Mullins and Joe Harber.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Province Funeral
Home, Jonesville, Va.
Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary of
the funeral home with the Rev. Ray Woodie officiating.
Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Jonesville, Va. Military
honors will be provided by the Charles DeWitt Byrd VFW Post #3382 of
Kingsport.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
