GATE CITY, Va. - Emily Grace Leeann Akers, 2, of Route 1,passed away
Sunday (June 29, 2003) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in
Nashville.
Emily was born on May 8, 2001 in Kingsport.
She was preceded indeath by her maternal great-grandfather, Arlie
Bishop; paternal great-grandmother, Betty Akers.
Surviving are her parents, Travis and Rachel Akers, of thehome;
sister, Katlin Lois Beth Akers, of the home; maternal grandparents,
Artie and Rhonda Bishop, Clinchport, Va.; paternal grandfather, Eddie
Clendenin, Kingsport; paternal grandmother, Patsy Rhoton, Gate City,
Va.; great-grandmother, Lura Bishop, Clinchport, Va.;
great-grandparents, Emory and Stella Kern, Clinchport, Va.;
great-grandfather, James Akers, Gate City, Va.; uncle and aunt,
Jonathan and Crystal Bishop, Clinchport, Va.; aunt, Brittany Rhoton,
Gate City, Va.; special cousin, Natalie Bishop, Clinchport, Va.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. today at the Kern Family
Cemetery in Rye Cove, Va. Family will meet at 10 a.m. at the funeral
home to go in procession tothe cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Anthony and Matthew Hensley.
Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, Va., is in charge of arrangements.
He lived in Kingsport all his life, and attended Ketron HS. He was
employed by
Greystone Health Care Center. No wife was mentioned, but a son was
named -
