Danny Lester Lawson

APPALACHIA, Va. - Danny Lester uThe Manu Lawson, 50, went to be with
the Lordon Thursday (Dec. 9, 2000) at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical
Center.
He was born in Lee County, Va. and had lived most of his life in
Derby, Va. He wasa coal miner with the Westmoreland Coal Co. and a
member of the U.M.W.A. District No. 28, Local No. 1976. He served in
the U.S. Navy.
He attended the Stonega (Va.) Calvary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his father, Kelly Lawson; and two sisters,
Lois and Leona Lawson.
Surviving are his wife,Peggy Lawson; four sons, Matthew uRoopu
Lawson, of the home, Danny uJabou Lawson Jr., Big Stone Gap, Va.,
Brandon uHoonieu Lawson, Derby, Va., and StephenuStymieu Stewart,
Johnson City; one daughter, Heather uHoney-Babyu Lawson, Kingsport;
two grandsons, Devin Bristol and Brylee Baker; four granddaughters,
Katelyn Lawson, Stephanie Stewart, Sidney Stewart and Victoria
Stewart; mother, Evie Dell Lawson, Big Stone Gap, Va.; three sisters,
Bernice Pearcy, Pattonsville, Va., Alva Caudle and Janice Blanken,
both of Big Stone Gap, Va.;one brother, Charles E. Lawson, Big Stone
Gap, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Holding Funeral Home,
Big Stone Gap, Va.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel
with the rev. Rick Phillips and the Rev. Gerald Hopkins officiating.
Committal services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Powell
Valley Memorial Gardens.
Family and friends will meet at the funeral home at 1:20 p.m. Tuesday
to go in procession to the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Greg uPorkyu Richardson, Richard Sizemore, Rick
Holcomb, James Tolbett, Shannon Musick and Harvey Moore.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Blanken, Troy Lee Gibson, Larry
Deaton and Charles Barnette.
