14812. Gerald Ray McKenzie

Lived at Lusby, MD in 1999.
Joined Navy in 1960 while family lived in Ga. Retired from Navy after
21 yrs.
WEBER CITY, Va. - Gerald Ray McKenzie, 60, entered into rest Thursday
afternoon (March 7, 2002) at his home in Lusby, Md.
Born Nov. 17, 1941 in Kingsport, he attended Bell Ridge Elementary
School, graduating from Forest Park, Ga., High School. He attended
Young Harris College,Ga.
He joined the U.S. Navy, graduating from Mt. San Antoine Junior
Collegein Walnut, Calif. He served 21 years, retiring O.S.C.S. chief
petty officer in 1982.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ray Gibson McKenzie, April 15,
1999; grandparents, Albert and Carrie Parker McKenzie, and J. Kelly
and Delphia Pierson Haynes.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Walsh McKenzie, Lusby, Md.; daughters
and sons-in-law, Laura and Curtis Cook, Oregon, Ill., Lisa and James
Lampert, Sterling, Va.; stepdaughter, Rena and Keith Adcock, Reston,
Va.; stepsons, Kris and Kirston Knowlton, Manassas, Va., Jimmy
Knowlton, Ocala,Fla.; grandchildren, Travis and Drew Cook, David
McKenzie, Brandon and AprylLampert; mother, Dorothy Haynes McKenzie;
sisters, Linda and Bob Kelley, Austin, Tex., Anne Beckelman,
Kingsport; mother-in-law, Doris Walsh, Milford, Del.; a niece and two
nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Burial willbe at 2 p.m. Tuesday (March 26, 2002) in Arlington
Cemetery with full military graveside services.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at Gate City United
Methodist Church.

Walnut St., Gate City, Va. 24251.

1967 grad of Gate City HS. He served 4 yrs in the US Air Force, was a
Vietnam War veteran,and was deputy commander at the US Air Force
Academy in Colorado Springs. Preceded in death by father & g-parents.
Surv by fiancee (Karen Christensen, Colorado Springs), 1 dau, 3 sons,
mother & st-father, 2 sis & bils, 1 bro & sis,1 st-sis, 3 nieces & 2
