KINGSPORT - Richard (Rich) S. Gilliam,35, died unexpectedly Tuesday
(April 16, 2002) due to an automobile accidentwhile out of state on
business.
He grew up in Greene County, where he had graduated from North Greene
High School. He had lived in Kingsport most of hisadult life. He had
served in the U.S. Army.
He was formerly employed at Tennessee Eastman Company where he served
as an electrician until 1998, when he left the company to become the
owner/operator of Nationwide Hail Repair. His life belonged to his
children.
Surviving are his daughter, Erica Gilliam of Church Hill; his son,
Zachary Gilliam of Kingsport; his fiancée, Serena Gilliam of
Kingsport; his father, Willie Ray Gilliam Jr. of Chuckey; his mother,
Peggy Hood Matney of Gate City, Va.; his grandmother, Mrs. Rufus
(Hazel) Hoodof Duffield, Va.; two brothers, Dwayne Gilliam and wife
Karen of Chuckey, and Jon D. Gilliam and wife Adrianne of Kingsport;
one niece, Katie Gilliam, and one nephew, Joe Gilliam.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home,
downtown Kingsport. Friends may call anytime at the father's
residence, 15825 Kingsport Hwy., Chuckey, Tenn., or anytime at the
aunt's residence (Sandy Williams), Route 1, Box 222, Duffield, Va.
Services will be conducted at 12 noon Saturday in the funeral home
chapel with Bishop G.D. Peters and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating.
Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery with military graveside rites
conducted by the American Legion HammondPost #3.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Gilliam, Jon D. Gilliam, Joe Gilliam, Rufus
Hood, David Hood, Garry Roberts, Stanley Williams and Derwin Gibson.
