KINGSPORT - Michael J. "Mike" Stallard, 59,West Carters Valley,
passed away Wednesday (Nov. 19, 2003) at Holston ValleyMedical
Center.
Mike was born in Scott County, Va., (Midway) and moved to Sullivan
County in 1975. He was retired from the U.S. Army Reserve with over 27
years of service. He was also retired from Eastman with 36 years and
fourmonths of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janie Jennings Stallard; and his
parents, Charles "C.K." Stallard and Pauline Compton Stallard.
Surviving are his stepson, M. Todd Halverson, Kingsport; grandsons,
Ryan Halverson and Jacob Halverson; sister, Deanna Mahoney, Kingsport;
brother, Tom C.Stallard, Kingsport; a very special friend, Cathy
Morelock, Kingsport; one niece and five nephews.
Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Scott CountyFuneral Home,
Weber City, Va. Friends may also call anytime at the residence, 1704
Fairview Ave., or 400 W. Carters Valley Road.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at
Stallard-Gray Cemetery, Midway, Va., with the Rev. Bob Copeland, the
Rev. Ron Matthews and American Legion Hammond Post No. 3 and Gate City
Post No. 265 in charge. Those wishing to attendthe graveside service
are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:55 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one's
choice.
