GATE CITY, Va. Penny Nichole Strong Gillenwater, 26, passed away
Friday (Oct. 8, 1999) at the University of Virginia, Charlottesville.
She was born in Sullivan County, Tenn. on August 1, 1973 and had
resided in Scott County.
She was a 1992 graduate of Gate City High School and was employed as a
certified nurses assistant by Brian Center.
She attended Hills Chapel Church and was a Christian.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, John L. Flanery
Sr.; paternal grandfather, Roy E. Strong Sr.
Surviving are her daughter, Mariah Gillenwater, of the home; son, Coty
Sturgill, of the home; mother and father, Roy E. and Deborah Flanery
Strong Jr., Gate City; brother and sister-in-law, Justin and Shannon
Strong, Kingsport; maternal grandmother, Claudia Flanery,
Nickelsville; paternal grandmother, Ruth Strong, Gate City; special
loving friend, Paul Sturgill, Weber City; five nieces, Chasity Strong,
Abigail Strong, Alexandria Strong, Shauna Sturgill, Meagan Sturgill.
Calling hours are from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Colonial Funeral Home,
Weber City and any othertime at her parents residence, 205 Parker
Estate Road.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Milligan Herron and the Rev. Claude Lane officiating.
Music will be by Cleda Sampson.
Graveside services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Nickelsville
Cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
