BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Ann (Mamaw) Hamilton left her earthly home for
her heavenly home on August 8, 2004 with her nine children, six
daughters-in-law, grandchildren and extended family members at her
bedside.
Shelived in the Big Stone Gap, Va. area for all of her 90 years, the
last 70 inthe home she and her deceased husband, James, made for
their family in BaumHollow'. She was a homemaker and leaves a great
legacy of love and service toher family, neighbors, community and
East Stone Gap Baptist Church where shewas a lifelong member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Hamilton, July 6,
1980; parents, Joseph Robert and Virgie Lane; sister, CharmieLane;
and brothers, Robert Lane, Bill Lane and Ray Lane.
Surviving are a brother, C.P. Lane, Bluff City, Tenn.; sisters, Eula
Gilley, Dayton, Nev., Margaret Arney, Jonesville,Va., Lou Etta Gibson,
Dayton, Ohio, Patsy Nordling, Champaign, Ill.; daughters, Virginia
Hamilton, Katherine Hobbs and Nancy Cassellof Big Stone Gap, Va.;
sons, Robert (Bobby) Hamilton and wife Phyllis, JamesB. Hamilton and
wife Elaine, John Hamilton and wife Sally, Ralph Hamilton and wife
Geneva, Jerry Hamilton and wife Margaret of Big Stone Gap, Va., and
Frank Hamilton and wife Brenda of Mathews, N.C.; grandchildren, Derek
Hamilton and wife Belinda, Angie Spradlin and husband Ben, Lance
Hamilton and wife Jennifer, Toni Givens and husband Jerry, Blake
Hamilton and wife Lolita, Baxter Hamilton, Jeff Hamilton and wife
Cathi, Christy Duncan and husband Jeff, Jeremy Hamilton, Doug Hamilton
and wife Adrian, Chad Hamilton and wife Kim, Candy Hamilton, Missy
Thacker and husband Ray, Mandy Blanton and husband Brandonand 20
great-grandchildren. She was also grandmother to nieces Annis Burke,
Connie Slagle and family, Sandy Dorton and family, and nephew Charlie
Morris and wife, all neighbors in Baum Hollow. Thanks go to special
care giver, Glenda Garrett.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at East Stone Gap
Baptist Church, East Stone Gap, Va. with funeral services to follow.
The Revs. Dearing Garner, former pastor from Houston, Texas and her
Pastor LonnieBrooks will officiate.
Committal services with burial next to her husband willbe conducted
at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at East Stone Gap Cemetery. Family andfriends
will meet at the church at 9:30 a.m. to go in procession to cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Slagle, Charlie Morris, John Wesley Slagle,
RayDorton, Patrick Dorton, John Schoolcraft, Mike Dickenson and
honarary pallbearer, Johnny Schoolcraft.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to East Stone
Gap Baptist Church Building Fund or East Stone Gap Baptist Church
Hamilton Mission Fund, both being addressed to P.O. Box 100, East
Stone Gap, Va. 24246.
Holding Funeral Home of Big Stone Gap, Va., is in charge of
arrangements.
