KINGSPORT - Grace Johnson Nash, 90,formerly of 221 Meadowbrook Lane,
went to be with the Lord Wednesday (July 18, 2001) at Norton Community
Hospital after a period of declining health.
Born in Imoden, Va., she had resided in Kingsport since 1950. She
retired fromKingsport Press in 1975 after 30 years of service.
Grace was a member of Arcadia Presbyterian Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur L. Nash; her parents,
John Clayton and Lillie McClellan Johnson; one sister, MaryBlanche
Johnson Brickey; one brother, Frank Johnson.
Surviving are one son,Jackie P. Johnson, Titusville, Fla.; one
sister, Jo Ann Q. Carter, Kingsport;one brother, Harold Johnson,
Kingsport; three grandchildren, CMSGT. Danny James Johnson, Macon Air
Force Base, Macon, Ga., Gary Lynn Johnson, Port St. John, Fla., Lindee
Johnson Summerlee, Marquette, Mich.; 12 great-grandchildren;and
several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Saturday at East Lawn Funeral
Home or anytime at the home of a sister, Jo Ann and Bill Carter, 5441
Oddfellow Road, Indian Springs.
Services will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home
chapel with the Rev. Larry Stallard officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday at Holston View
Cemetery, Weber City, Va.

KINGSPORT - William H. (Bill) Carter, 88, of 5441 Oddfellow Road, went
to be with the Lord Sunday (March 31, 2002) in the Holston Valley
MedicalCenter after a period of declining health.
Bill was born November 28, 1913 inScott County, Va., and lived most
of his life there in the Snowflake community before moving to
Kingsport. He was a son of the late Joseph Worley and EvaQuillen
Carter.
He was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army,landing
on Normandy beach and walking through France and Belgium. He retired
from the Tennessee Eastman Company as an operator.
He was of the Methodistfaith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first
wife, Bessie Lee Fuller Carter; and a brother, Joseph Worley Carter
Jr., who passed away in 2000.
Bill is survived by his loving family; his wife, Joann Quillen Carter
of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rita Louise Carter of
Calif., and Linda Sue Helton and her husband Charles W. Helton Sr. of
GladeSprings, Va.; four stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Carolyn and
Don Byrd of Blountville, Dorothy and Richey Boyd of South Carolina,
Andra and Jerry Coatesand Rhonda and Steve Faust, all of Kingsport;
son, Bruce Allen Carter of Kingsport; two stepsons and
daughters-in-law, Alvon and Janet Quillen of Gate City, Va., and Kevin
and Kathy Quillen of Hiltons, Va.; one "very special granddaughter,"
Sarah Faust; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; four
sisters and brother-in-law, Mary Sallings of Weber City, Va., Myrtle
Cox and Mattie Flannary, both of Gate City, Va., Ina and George
(Junior) Williams of Kingsport; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Lee
and Carrie Carter of Gate City, Va., Edwin and Ingrid Carter of Weber

Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel
with the Rev. Larry DeVault and the Rev. Eugene Little officiating.
Graveside service with full military honors will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday
in the Holston View Cemetery, conducted by the American LegionHammond
Post No. 3.

WEBER CITY - Alvon 0lene Quillen Sr., 53, who was known to some of his
friends as A.O and to others as George," died at Holston Valley
Community Hospital in Kingsport Friday afternoon after a lingering
illness.
He was owner of Quillen's Fabric Shop and ownerand auctioneer of the
Quillen Trading Post in Weber City. Before that, he had been a
salesman for 30 years for the former Salyers Candy Company, now Cowan
Brothers, of Kingsport.
A lifelong resident of Scott County, he attended Sally's Chapel
Baptist Church of Weber City. He was a past grand commander ofChapter
749, United Commercial Travelers, and had been president of the Scott
County Farm Bureau for the past seven years.
Surviving are: his widow, Mrs.Jo Ann Johnson Quillen, his mother,
Mrs. Dove Quillen, also of Weber City; daughters, Mrs. Donald E.
(Carolyn) Byrd. Miss Andra Quillen and Miss Rhonda Quillen, all of
Weber City, and Mrs. Mike ( Dorothy) Derrick, Spartanburg, S.C; sons,
Alvon 0. Jr., Gate City, and Kevin Alan Quillen, Weber City; sisters,
Mrs. Ernest (Mary) Peters and Mrs. Fred (Faye) Jennings, both of Gate
City, and Mrs. J. C. Fraley, Weber City; a brother, Homer Lee Quillen,
Kingsport; and three grandchildren.

WEBER CITY, Va.- Robert C. ''Bob'' Brickey, 79, entered into rest
Tuesday (Nov. 9, 1999) athis residence. Mr. Brickey was born in Scott
County, Va. on August 15, 1920,the son of the late Everett S. Brickey
and Emily E. Brickey Webb. He was a veteran of the United States Army
serving as a Tank Commander of the Armored Division in World War II.
He was retired from the power and service division of the Eastman
Chemical Company. He was an active member of State Line Baptist
Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by first
wife, Mary B. Johnson Brickey and a step-son, Everett G. Beard Jr.
