Mom said she died of TB when Mom was about 11 yrs old...Mom stated
that after Hogue left her she was heartbroken and neglected her
health. Cassie spent some time in a TB sanatorium somewhere in VA) Mom
was surprised when I told her Cassie is not listed in the Williams
Cemetery records. She could not imagine herbeing buried anywhere
else....as she lived with her mother (Mary Lou) at thetime of her
death. Mom said "Grandma spent a lot of time taking care of her."
Also, Mary Lou's date of death is 7 Dec 1949 (your record has 1939).

I talked with him by phone, Feb1992, but he did not know any family
history. He said his father talked about hunting in the swamp where
Kingsport is now. He thought that he lived at some time near Fall
Branch. Lucian is still a very active person at age 90; hestill
drives and was attending a meeting in Greeneville the first day I
tried to call him.

GATE CITY, Va. - Rev. Lucian Lane, 101, went to be with God Friday
(Feb. 7, 2003) at his residence.
Born December 4, 1901, a son of William Henry "Bill" Lane and Luveney
Elizabeth "Vina" Penley Lane, he lived his entire life in Scott
County, Va.
He was ordained in the Primitive Baptist faith April 7, 1945. During
his ministry he pastored severalchurches, including 25 years with Oak
Grove Primitive Baptist Church in BullsGap, Tenn. He held numerous
revivals in Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio and Kentucky, having witnessed
many souls saved. He was a talented singer and, prior tohis
ordination, he taught singing schools and continued to sing throughout
his life. He was the oldest member of the Eastern Primitive Baptist
Association and was known and loved by thousands. He was a member of
the Ayers ChapelChurch, Big Stone Gap, Va., one of the churches he
previously pastored.
Heretired from the Tennessee Eastman Company with 23 years of service
as a millwright, and spent the remaining 39 years of his life full
time in the work ofthe Lord.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by Ethel Locella
Reed, his loving wife of 47 years; Sara Baker, his second wife of 22
years; son, Willard Cecil Lane; grandson, Willard Ronald Lane;
brothers, GeorgeLane, W.T. "Trig" Lane, Kelly Lane and Dow Lane,
sisters, Pearl Lane, Ruth Arnold and Monnie Pierson.
Survivors include his daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Allen
McDavid, Selma and Jim Kerns; daughter-in-law, Jimmie Lane;
grandchildren and spouses, Alana and Freddie Roberts, Sherry and Leon
Bray, Mikeand Anita Taylor, Tony Taylor and Teresa Rogers, Sheila
Taylor, Ricky and Debbie Taylor, Patty and Kenneth Smith, Terri and
Gary Frazier, Kathy and Gerald McCall, Steve and Wrenda Lane, Lisa and
David Brookshire, Mike and Lisa Lane; 21 great-grandchildren and 15
great-great-grandchildren; stepchildren andspouses, Clyde and Peggy
Baker, Sidney and Oneida Baker, Gerald and Lois Baker and Fred and
Wanda Baker; eight stepgrandchildren; and several nieces and nephews;
special friend, Rev. Kenny Hammond; and special caregivers, Dr. Edward
Griffin, Dr. Patrick Riggins and their staff, Gayle Campbell and
WellmontHospice House.
Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Gate CityFuneral
Home, and other times at his home at 215 Park Street, Gate City, Va.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday in the Gene Falin Memorial
Chapel of the funeral home with Elder Oscar Irvin, Elder Paul Strong
and Elder John Arnott officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesdayat Holston View
Cemetery, Weber City, Va. The family will be meeting at the funeral
home at 1:15 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
MikeTaylor, Tony Taylor, Ricky Taylor, Steve Lane, Mike Lane, Josh
Roberts will serve as pallbearers.
Fellow ministers will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made in the name of Rev. Lucian Lane to
Ayers Chapel Church, c/o Emma Jean Webb, 476 Ridge Place, Big Stone
Gap, Va. 24219.

Isaac Nelson Taylor

When Mason & Dixon Lines Inc. began operations with one truck in 1930,
I. Nelson Taylor was the first driver hired to operate it. Taylor, 73,
of 808 Mimosa Dr, died in Holston Valley Community Hospital at 3 p.m.
Saturday after an illness of several weeks.
Born in Scott County, Va., he had lived in Kingsport for 50 years. He
retired from Mason & Dixon in 1966 after 36 years with the company,
which has grown into one of the nation's largest motor freight lines.
He attended Stone Drive United MethodistChurch. Surviving are his
widow, Mrs. Aliene Enix Taylor; daughters, Mrs. Joe (Frieda) Peak and
Mrs. Robert (June) Hilton, both of Kingsport; sisters, Mrs. Ethel
Blessing, Mrs. Polly Nickels, Mrs. Nannie Riddlc, Mrs. Jo Sattie
Taylor and Mrs. Hannah Thompson, all of Kingsport; brothers, Orville,
Kingsport; Hugh and Farley, both of Harrisburg, Pa., and Hobert Taylor
of Florida; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
