2239. William Walter White

From family sheets by Katie W. Merritt.
He did not like his step-mother and hewent to the OK and NM area to
work on ranches shortly after 1886. He settlednear Boise City, OK
where he homesteaded land. The land was not sold until his son Vincent
sold it after William's death. Pearl developed heart trouble and they
moved to Cabool, MO before 1918. They then moved to a farm near Egypt,
Ark where Pearl died of a heart attack in 1920. After Pearl's death,
thetwo young daughters and went to live with his brother Frank in
LaJunta, Colo.Vincent became ill and when he was able to travel, he
went to live with Pearl's parents at Wheeless, OK. William never
remarried and worked at various jobs until his death at the age of 72
in Rosedale, Miss where he worked as a night watchman for a sawmill.

6084. Vincent Maurice White

After his mother's death, he went to live with his Snider grandparents
at Wheeless, OK until his grandfather died and his grandmother
returned to Ind where she died. Vincent stayed in Boise City, OK,
where he worked on ranches. Hespent a lot of time near Clayton, NM
breaking wild horses from the range.

She and her adoptive mother Alice (Mrs Frank) White were drowned in a
flood.

She was adopted by her uncle & aunt, Frank and Alice White, in
LaJunta, Colo, when her mother died. She was saved when her sister and
aunt Alice were drowned in a flood. She was placed in an orphan's home
until Frank's wife's sister, Frances (Mrs Fred) Schroeder, took her to
her home in Kiowa, Kan on 8/14/1921. Katie grad from high school in
Kiowa andattended business college and worked as a secretary in
Wichita, Kan. In Oct 1943, she enlisted in the Marines and worked 20
months as a secretary to the Depot Mess Office at Miramar Air Depot
near San Diego, Cal.

Gorden and Guy left NC for WVA. Guy settled down and married
ViolaThomas. Gorden married Lake unknown and had three children. Both
Gorden &GuyLived in McDowell county, Guy in Iaeger, Gorden also?
The story is that Gordengot drunk and drove his car into the Tug
riverand drowned. At some time later Lee had his remains moved to NC
to alocal graveyard. Some time later Gordens remains was again moved
to Acemetary in Grassy Creek NC where Lee D. Laneis buried.

School teacher, farmer, timber dealer and livestock dealer. Lived in
the PineGrove Community of Greene Co. Retired in 1993 and living on a
small farm inthe shadow of Fodder Stack Mtn. He wrote article
Historic Greene Co, TN, andIts People," p. 335.


Pauline "Polly" Unknown

From her obit. Lived in Kingsport for most of her life. Director of
Volunteers
for Hol Val Hospital, retiring in 1972. 3 g-ch 1990.
Her husband given as P.D. Lane who died in 1976. Speculated as this
P.D. Lane
since he was known to have died before 1990.

last 54 yrs. Retired from Eastman (Filter Products Div) in 1973. Mem

grandmother had a cousin Hobert Rice that lived in Knoxville but died.

wife Edith may still be living. He had a son Gene and a daughter.
