Nellie Maggard, 86, of Big Stone Gap and formerly of Pound, went to be with the Lord and her Savior on Tuesday (Nov. 11, 2003) in bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Norton. She was a resident of Bon Secours St. Mary's Long Term Care for the last 11 months. She was a member of the Lone Pine Freewill Baptist Church of Almira in Pound. Mrs. Maggard was preceded in death by her parents, Dock and Cosby Jane Mullins, her loving husband, Earl Maggard, a son Leroy Maggard and two grandsons, Ricky Lee and Jeff Maggard. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, William Warren and Ruth Maggard of Pound, Timothy W. and Vickie Maggard of Stafford; five daughters and sons-in-law, Jane M. and Richard Brooks of Richmond, Shirley and Jerry Fritz of Big Stone Gap, Pauline and Johnny Ball of Pound, Trula and Rodney Bolling of Pound, Linda and Edison Holcomb of Pound; one special daughter-in-law, Alice Maggard of Richmond; one sister, Bonnie McGuire of Pennsylvania, 25 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Hagy & Fawbush Funeral Home chapel in Norton with Rev. Leon Meade officiating. Burial will be in the Wright Cemetery, Pound. The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home chapel, with a song service at 7 p.m.
