Funeral services for Mrs. Margie Maggard, 44, of Sparta, were at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Harris Chapel here. The Rev. Charley Shipman officiated and burial was in Hall Cemetery in Douglas County. Mrs. Maggard died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Springfield Baptist Hospital. She had been in ill health for several years. Survivors include her husband, Lloyd; a brother, Carly Boly, St. Louis; three daughters, Mrs. Betty Smith, St. Louis, Miss Barbara Wall, Gilman, Ill. and Miss Marilyn Wall, Iberia; and two grandchildren.

Deloris Garrison, 91, of Carthage, passed away at 4:22 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2009, at Carthage Health and Rehab.
She was born Aug. 14, 1917, to Edward and Anna May “Maggard” Perkins in Bergman, Ark. She married James Arthur Garrison on July 24, 1937, in Bruner, Mo. He preceeded her in death on Jan 6, 2004. She worked as a nurses’ aide for 20 years and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Carthage.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne Garrison of Springfield, Mo., Landen Garrison of Jefferson City, Mo., and Roland Garrison of Stotts City, Mo. Additional survivors include four daughters, Kay Williams of Kinsley, Kan., Mary Myers of Carthage, Mo., Rose Clements of Kendricktown, Mo., Charlotte Slaughter of Reeds, Mo., one brother, Larn Perkins of Chanute, Kan., and two sisters, Dovie Stearns of Ozark, Mo., Elvena Culey of Kansas City, Kan., as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceeded in death by one son, Louis Garrison, one daughter, Mary Lou Garrison, two brothers, Tom and Dean, and four sisters, Lorene, Effie, Florence, and Mildred.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27, 2009, at Reeds Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the Ulmer Funeral Home.
Contributions may be made to Avalon Hospice in care of the Ulmer Funeral Home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Ulmer Funeral Home, Carthage.

hi roxie, my lineage is : my mother was mildred maria perkins married robert thomas owens , mom`s mother annie mae maggard married william edward ( ed )perkins,,,,grandma annie`s parents were samuel hodley maggard and eliza jane pruett, etc,,,,grandma annie married joseph gunn after grandpa ed died,,,( they had no children ),, i have been researching family history for about 10 years,,,,mother and my sister phyllis got me started and it is addictive,

Mildred Maria Owens, 76, Bruner, died Nov. 27, 2002, in her home. She was born Jan. 11, 1926, at Keltner. On April 11, 1942, she and Robert Thomas Owens Jr. were married. She was a lifelong resident of Bruner. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Robert Thomas Owens Jr.; two brothers, Dean Perkins and Loren Perkins; three sisters, Dolly Garrison, Elvena Culey and Dovie Starnes; two sons, Jackie Leroy Owens and wife Wanda, Bruner, and Jerry Wayne Owens and wife Geneia of Elkhead; six daughters, Betty Marie Fink and husband Robert, Bruner; Wanda Lou Pearson and husband Robert, Fordland, Donna Kay Wright and husband Joe, Seymour; Linda Sue Underwood and husband . Dale, Seymour; Dorothy Jean Shelton and husband Ben, Squires, and Judith Anna White and husband David of Leavenworth, Kan.; a son-in-law, Raymond Dobbins, Fordland; 30 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Edward Perkins and Annie Mae Maggard Perkins; a daughter, Phyllis June Dobbins; a brother, Thomas Perkins, three sisters, Effie Bartz, Florence Stogner, Lorraine Gueher; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service was Nov. 29 in Owens Family Cemetery, Bruner, with Judith Anna White officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.

Robert Thomas “Junior” Owens, 81, of Bruner, passed away in his home on Friday, May 6, 2005.
He was born March 22, 1924 in Missouri City, Mo., the son of Robert and Sarah (Watkins) Owens. On April 11, 1942, he and Mildred Marie Perkins were united in marriage. He had farmed at Bruner for many years.
Survivors include two sons, Jackie Leroy Owens and wife, Wanda, Bruner, and Jerry Wayne Owens and wife, Geneia, of Elkhead; five daughters, Betty Marie Fink, of Bruner, Wanda Lou Pearson and husband, Robert, of Fordland, Donna Kay Wright, of Seymour, Linda Sue Underwood and husband, Dale, of Seymour, and Judith Anna White and husband, David, of Leavenworth, Kan.; two sons-in-law, Raymond Dobbins, of Fordland, and Ben Shelton, of Squires; 32 grandchildren; and 59 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred, on Nov. 27, 2002; his parents, Robert and Sarah; two daughters, Phyllis June Dobbins and Dorothy Jean Shelton; two grandchildren, Jody Ann Shelton and Angela Lianne Owens; two great-grandchildren, Zane Burnell Fink and Morgan Janette Jeffco; two sons-in-law, Robert Fink and Joseph Wright; a sister, Thelma Marie Owens; and a brother, George William Owens.
A graveside service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, in Owens Family Cemetery, Bruner, with Judith Anna White officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Adams Funeral Home, Ozark.
