Fred Maggard, 74, of Springfield, whose sister, Mrs. Alta Gammill lives in Ozark, died last Sunday in the Medi-Center after a short illness. Services were held in Union Hill Church near Oldfield. Burial was in Hall Cemetery on Swan Creek. Contributed by Mabel and Randall Phillips.

Ira Maggard was born December 1, 1915 in Ongo, Missouri, the son of Johnny and Myrtle (Herricks) Maggard.On September 25, 1939, he and Faye thompson were married. Ira owned and operated a furniture business in Sparta for many years with his son Kenneth.
He was a charter member of Union Hill Baptist Church in 1960. He was their first song leader , and led for many years, He sang at several hundred funerals throughout the years. He was also a bus driver for the Chadwick school system , and an auctioneer.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Maggard, Oldfield, his son, Kenneth Maggard and his wife Patty, Oldfield His daughter Barbara Combs and her husband Garland, Ava, grandchildren, Wayne, Cammie , Melissa, Marla, Carla and their spouses, great grandchildren, Tommy , Derek, Ira, Kenny Wayne, Shawney, Kathryn, David Lee, Nathan, Deanna, Ethan, Misty, Rikki , Jacob and Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, Lonnie, Fred, Everett, Alva, and Emmitt Maggard, two sisters, Goldie Maggard and Alta Gammill, a daughter- in -law, Carolyn Fletchall and a grandchild, Robin Lynn Maggard.
Officiating was Reverand Bally Johnson, Reverend Carl Thompson .
