I still believe Olivia's father was Joseph Maggard (d. 1869 in Sumter County, Ala.) She's on the 1870 census in Sumter County (age 16), with her mother, Rebecca, 57, who's running a hotel. Her older brothers David, John, William and Kenigine (?) also are living with them, working as clerks. Her brother Joseph is listed with the household of his uncle David Maggard in the 1870 Navarro County, Texas, census. Not sure where her sister Sarah is. This is the same Maggard family that is on the 1850 and 1860 censuses of Sumter County. And after 1855 they're the only Maggards in Alabama. That's when Joseph's older brother David moves to Lauderdale County, Miss. (near the Stokes) before moving to Navarro County in 1869. Olivia must have come to Texas some time between the 1870 census and her marriage in May 1874. Her brother William is a boarder with her family in the 1880 Navarro County census and is a clerk in Arthur Wilson Stokes' dry goods store. I also have other information to share. Keep in touch.
