Funeral services for William H. Maggard, 74, of Springfield, were at 2 p.m. Saturday in General Baptist Church, Ozark with the Revs. Glenco Roberts and John Commer officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery under direction of Ayre-Goodwin. Mr. Maggard died at 11:15 p.m. Thursday in Cox Medical Center after a short illness. He had lived in Springfield for 12 years and was formerly of Bradleyville. He was a deacon of Hercules Church. Surviving are his wife, Anna; five daughters, Mrs. Delmar Green, Springfield, Mrs. Clifford Shelton, Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Paul Davis, Stockton, Calif.., Mrs. Carl Goetz, Ozark, and Mrs. Wayne McCord, Springfield; two sons, Earl Maggard, Seymour and Bob Maggard, Eugene, Ore.; two sisters, Mrs. Jim Roberts, Stockton, Calif. and Mrs. Wade Dollarhide, Jay, Okla.; 28 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.

Claudia Mae Green, 85, of Forsyth, formerly of Springfield and Ava, was born February 17, 1919, to William H. and Anna (Roberts) Maggard at Hilda, Mo. Mrs. Green went to be with her Lord Saturday, November 20 at Cox South hospital. She was a retired hair dresser and had a great passion for gardening. She moved to Ava in 1998 from Salina, Okla. She had a great love for the Lord and her family. Claudia Mae Maggard was married October 30, 1947, to Delmer Green in Globe, Ariz., and to this union one son was born. Surviving are her son, Leo Don and wife, Patty Green of Sparta, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Margaret Herd of Ava; four grandchildren, Jerry Gene Herd, Sarah Hord, Gina Smith, and J.D. Green; six great-grandchildren; three great-greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Earl and wife, Cathy Maggard of Reeds Spring, and Bob and wife, Joan Maggard of Eugene, Ore.; and four sisters, Dora and husband, Paul Davis of Salem, Ore., Freida and husband, Bud Green of Texas, Thelma and husband, Noel Braun of Branson, and Lea Bilmat of Bakersfield, Calif. Ava--Funeral services for the Rev. Caleb B. Maggard, 81, a Missionary Baptist minister in the Ava area for 58 years, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Clinkingbeard Chapel with Rev. Ira Johnson officiating.
Mr. Maggard, a retired Ava farmer, died at 2:45 p.m. Saturday in the home of a daughter, Mrs. Mavena Faye Hall, of 3234 West Washita, Springfield, after a six month illness. He had been a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church west of here for 61 years.
In addition to Mrs. Hall, survivors include five sons, Roy of Rosevile, Calif., Arthur, Route 10, Springfield, Hiram, Route 4, Springfield, Glenn, 924 West Broadmoor, Springfield, and James, Willard; seven other daughters, Mrs. Nora Stillings and Mrs. Inice Lawrence, both of Ava, Mrs. Lois Fitzgerald, Bettendorf, Iowa, Mrs. Tennie Williams, McPherson, Kan., and Mrs. Nina Mae Roberts, Willard, Mrs. Gladys Huff, Gainsville, and Mrs. Frances Montgomery, Ozark; one brother Silas, of Springfield, two half-brothers, Benton Maggard, Springfield, and Enoch Maggard, Pleasant Hope; five half-sisters, Mrs. Rosa Applegate, Springfield, Mrs. Edna Hawkins, Oldfield, and Mrs. Vina Caudell, Mrs. Rhoda Thomas and Mrs. Maudie Nelson, all of Ava; and 37 grandchildren and 52 great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Ill- [SIC] Mrs. Roy Swearengin of Route 4, Springfield; and three sisters, Mrs. Eunice Henry of Phoenix, Ariz, Mrs. Juanita Brown of Miller and Mrs. Dorothy Hicks of Wichita, Kan. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the Chaffin Chapel in Ozark, with Rev. Floyd Hanks officiating. Burial was in Sparta Cemetery under direction of Chaffin.

Inice Irene Lawrence, daughter of Caleb Maggard and Nancy Huff Maggard, was born on February 28, 1924, in Ava, Mo., and went to her Heavenly home on Nov. 6, 2005, in Springfield, Mo., at the age of 81 years. Inice was a lifetime resident of the Ava community. She had lived for the past three months in Ozark to be with her family. On February 9, 1941, Inice and Richard L. Lawrence were united in marriage in Douglas County, Mo., and to this union one daughter was born. Inice was a Dairy Farmer for 60 years working alongside her husband. She was a member of the Highlonesome Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Richard, in 2003. She is survived by a daughter, Genevieve Garland, a granddaughter, raised in the home, JaDonna Rice, both of Ozark, Mo.; two grandchildren, Cecilia and Melinda; four great-grandchildren, Dandy, Jeremy, Candy and Tonya; three great-greatgrandchildren, Bailey, Lucie and Quentin; two brothers, Arthur Maggard, Springfield, Mo., and Jim Maggard, Willard, Mo.; five sisters, Lois Fitzgerald, Bettendorf, Iowa; Tennie Williams, McPherson, Kan.; Madena Faye Hall, Springfield, Mo.; Gladys Huff and Francis Montgomery, both of Ozark, Mo.; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, with the Rev. Tom Johnson officiating. Interment will be in the Ava Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, in the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society. Services are being conducted by Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, Mo.
