A son of the late Willie and Marilyn Hall Martin, he died December 1, 2007 at Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital, Whitesburg, Letcher Co KY. He was a brother of the late Rev. Robert Martin, Coy Martin, Can Martin, Willis Martin, Virgil Martin, Clarence Martin, Sam Martin, and Ethel Lucas. Surviving are his wife, Margaret Wright Martin; four daughters, Kay Collier and husband Cleve, Van, KY; Shirley Bentley and husband Larry, Democrat, KY; Sheila Arnett and husband Larry, Morehead, KY; and Cecilia Lynn Bates and husband Jeff, Colson, KY; a brother, Willie Martin Jr., Cleveland, Ohio; two sisters, Delia Johnson and Eva Holbrook, both of Cleveland, Ohio; 10 grandchildren, Amy Davidson and husband Johnnie, Andrea Owens and husband Shad, Stephanie Brown and husband Ross, Ashley Bentley, Brandy Coyle and husband Toby, Brett Arnett, Brooke Arnett, Blake Cecil Arnett, Jason Bates and wife Jamie, and Mandi Bailey and husband Kerry; four great-grandchildren, Emma Davidson, Andrew Owens, Sadie Bates and Josie Bates; and a friend, Morris Maggard.
