949. Jerry Shelby
According to John Shelby, Jerry Adams, Jerry and John Shelby were swimming in the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River on the afternoon of 13of July 1947, when they were accidentally caught in a hole while standing on a firsh trap at the bottom of the river. When the trap turned over, all three were taken under the water. Jerry Adams and John Shelby were pulled to safety, but Jerry, unfortunately, had his foot caught in the root of a tree and was unable to escape. By the time he was pulled from the water, it was too late to save him.
