DEPUTY U.S. MARSHAL
Bucky E. Burke
October 13, 1970 – September 18, 2007
The United States Marshals Service mourns the death of
Deputy U.S. Marshal Bucky E. Burke, 36, who died during
Criminal Investigator training at the U.S. Marshals Service (USMS)
Training Academy in Glynco, Georgia on September 18, 2007.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Burke entered on duty with the U.S.
Marshals
Service in 2003, and was assigned to the U.S. District Court
for
the District of Columbia. Prior to employment with the USMS,
Deputy U.S. Marshal Burke served on the police force for the
Department of Veterans Affairs and as Chief of the Loyall,
Kentucky
Police Department. In addition, he participated in both
Operations
Desert Storm and Desert Shield and achieved the rank of E-4 in
the
United States Army, where he served from 1988 to 1993.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Burke was a highly regarded team player,
whose determination and drive were admired by his colleagues.
He was a well-respected member of the USMS, and he will be
sorely missed.
Deputy U.S. Marshal Burke is survived by his mother and
stepfather,
Dora and Jerry Farley, and an 11-year-old son, Logan.
