Welcome to the Potter Family and Friends Website. We are a family website dealing with Creed Flannery and Ida Fuller Potter and other related families who have a connection to the surnames listed on our A to Z Links Page and on our A to Z Links 2 Page. I have gotten behind in my surname updates, so if your surname isn't listed, do a Site Search. This website is setup for my family. but I do welcome others who want to be added to the site and always add whatever you send in as soon as possible. I have found that one cannot really do their own genealogy without doing other families. It just isn't possible.

One of the more important things I have done on this site is to take prepared census records and create pages from each of the families in them. In many of those families, I have done as much of the genealogy of them as possible. It's been quite a bit of work, and I have been very fortunate to have been able to do it. Two of the more important census records are the 1850 Letcher County Kentucky Census and the 1860 Letcher County Kentucky Census. So, basically, if you have had family in Letcher County, Kentucky, I have done some of your family's genealogy. I have done a family page for almost all of the families in those two important years of census records.

Census Records and Transcriptions:

Welcome to Our Potter Family and Friends Genealogy Website

Census Connections: 1850 Letcher County Kentucky Census to family web pages. 1850 Letcher Co KY List of Names of Heads of Households. There were 176 families in that census. I will add corrections if anyone cares to submit them.

1860 Letcher County Kentucky Census. There are 610 families in that census. 1860 Letcher County Kentucky List of Names of Head of Households. I will add any corrections or additions that anyone cares to submit. (13 Nov 2008)

1850 Pike County Kentucky Census and 1850 Pike County Kentucky List of Names of Heads of Households. There are 905 families in that census. Any corrections or additions will be added as I receive them. (December 2008)

1850 Wise County Virginia Census and List of Names of Heads of Households. I managed to proofread the majority of it, but there are some families in this census that I could not find anything about. If you have any information on any of the folks that aren't linked to a page or any additions or corrections, contact me and I'll make the necessary changes or additions. (May 2009)

The 1850 Scott County Virginia Census has also been updated to include surnames at the top of each page. The first page you access from the previous link has the first letters of the surnames of these families listed. The transcriber created an every-name list for this census. It is now easier to maneuver through the 1850 Scott Co VA Census and the surnames are on pages according to the first letters of the last name. Much easier to browse. I have not created family pages for everyone in that census, but the every name list gives the name of all the folks in that census. There are well over 1500 families in this census. (May 2009)
