Obituary: JUNE H. DAVIS
June Hibbitts Davis, died Dec. 26, 2007 at her home near Blountville, Tenn. She was the daughter of Sam and Stella Mullins Hibbitts and was born Jan. 8, 1926 on Georges Fork. She attended Georges Fork Elementary School and was a 1944 graduate of DMHS. She married Roy Davis in 1946, and they lived on Pound River until moving to Tennessee about 1965. She and Roy were both employed by Uni-Vac until the company closed its Bristol plant.

After her husband’s death in 1995, June continued to live near Blountville, TN but spent several weeks each summer with her sister, Tina, first at the family homeplace and later at the “Little House” nearby, which they had inherited from their mother.  She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy; sisters, Lona, Nona and Joyce; and brothers, Kedric, Berlin, Cecil and Thurman.

Survivors include a daughter, Connie Davis; one sister, Tina H. Meade, who recently moved back home to Georges Fork from Warren, Mich.; 11 nieces; two nephews; and a special caregiver, Martha Lane, who made it possible for June to spend her last years at home.

Visitation and funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home in Bristol, TN, followed by a committal service and entombment at Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, TN. June was someone’s daughter. June was someone’s sister. June was someone’s wife. June was someone’s aunt. June was someone’s friend. June was someone’s mother. June will always and eternally be His child. (written by daughter Connie)
