Mullins, Nervesta Hollyfield--In much weakness I will try to write an obituary
of our beloved sister in hope and Dear Aunt, Nervesta Hollyfield Mullins. She
was born January 9, 1902 and departed this life April 20, 1962, making her
stay on earth 60 years, 3 months and 11 days. She was the daughter of
Jefferson and Dencie Hollyfield. She was married to Charles Mullins about the
year 1919 and to this union was born eight children, six daughters and two
sons, one son Harlis preceded her in death. She leaves to mourn her passing a
lonesome companion, Charles, one son: Edward Wayne Mullins, Alexandria, Va.,
and six daughters: Faye Hall, Cleveland, Ohio, Juanita Mullins, Alexandria
Va., Mildred Sturgill, White Hall, Maryland, Ellouise Pugh, Street, Maryland,
Estelle Vanover, Travis A. F. Base, California and Loretta Belcher, Pound,
Va., she also leaves six sisters and two brothers, 39 grandchildren and 6
great grandchildren, a host of friends and neighbors who Miss her on bold Camp
and the nieces and nephews who loved her so much. She joined the Old Regular
Baptist Church in 1941 and was a faithful member as long as she was able to
attend. She was heard to say the month before she died to a sister as she lay
in her casket, "Just Sleep on, I feel that I will be with you before long."
and we are made to believe by her fruits she is just asleep and waiting
summons from on high. The Bible teaches us that by their fruits we shall know
them and we know there was never a better person to visit the sick and to try
to help when sickness or death came to this neighborhood. I would like to say
to this family, my heart goes out to you and that I love every one of you and
I feel you have lost the best earthly friend you ever had, but I feel your
mother is just resting from her labors and that she is just a step farther
along than we are. Remember Mother's advice and if the Spirit bids you pray,
kneel down and try because we have a merciful God who is willing and able to
bear our burden for us and roll back the clouds when the darkness comes.
