A Note From Sue Blevins Kovack
I am leaving this information just as it is written from Sue Kovack's webpage at Rootsweb. She wrote the following from that page:
Melvina never married but had three sons by a Nash man ans (and) I was told by Theodore Burleson that Wickliff Nash of Wise, Va, was the father of these three sons and he was married and had a family of his own too and lived next door to her father, Linkhorn Blevins at one time. Melvina looks like an Indian. She died of a tumor in her chest in Appalvhia, Va. I have the original photo that used to hang in my Great Uncle John Blevins:s home in Powell Vally (Valley), Va, John Blevins, Wick Blevins and William Lawrence Blevins were the three sons of Melvina Blevins. William or Bill Blevins died in a military hospital in Baltimore, Md. and I have his death certficate too. I have aphoto of Bill on a horse also. I grew up with my Great Uncle John Blevins as he raised my dad, James Wallace Blevins, Wyoming Pearl { Toni] Blevins, and Bessie Mae Blevin. Kemper Quentin Blevins & Justin Howard Blevins lived in a boarding house run by Wick"s second wife" sister, an Early. Wick farmed out all his children by his first marriage to evalena James when she died and married Ethel Early and I was told that Wick was seeing her when my Grandma Evalena was dying too! I never knew Wick was my Grandfather until I was 18 years old and we were on our way to visit my Grandma Emily and Grandpa Monroe Blevins in Pikeville, Ky. and my Mom started talking about my family. My Dad appointed himself The Father Figure to his brothers and sisters after his mom died and he looked after all of them and often got them put (out) of jams and my dad, Jim would not let us see Wick Blevins and he called him, The Old Man! My Dad, Jim never forgave his father for giving up all his children upon the death of his mother, Evalena James Blevins. I heard about Wick Blevins but I did not know he was my Grandfather! The Early woman that ran the boarding home would steal money out of Kemper & Justin"s jeans pockets as they slept. Both young boys worked on a golf course picking up golf balls and I have seen both of them wear those golfing hats while I was growing up too. Wick Henry Blevins went on to have a second set of kids with Ethel Early too. I never associated with them but I did try and was cut short because I wanted some answers and Greta Jean was not willing to give them to me! Edith that lived in Florida did not even know who my sister was years ago, my sister is Jenny Blevins. We still have that letter too! There were twins in opur (our) family lineage and I have twin Grandaughters now, Amanda Marie Kovack and Kristin Lynn Kovack and they are almost eight now or will be in Kune (June) of 2005. I copukld (could) gop (go) on and on here but I will stop here for now! HA! Oral Family History from my parents. Sue Apri, 02, 2005 Sue
