Wilburn Bentley, 84, of Virgie, Ky., died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at Pikeville
Methodist Hospital. Born May 17, 1917, in
Virgie, he was the son of the late William Payne Bentley and
Nancy Ann Stewart. He was a retired coal miner, a member of
the U.M.W.A., Kentucky Colonel, an ordained Church of Christ
minister and member of the Virgie Church of Christ.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Sarah Johnson Marcum. He is survived by
his sons Donald, Con and Darrell Bentley, all of Virgie;
daughters Sylvia Sowards of Somerset, Ky., Leslie Corrill of
Fairfield, Ohio, and Reble Bevins and Bertina Shortridge,
both of Virgie; brothers Ballard Bentley of Neon, Ky., Edd
Bentley of Jockhorn, Ky.; sisters Millie Bentley of McRoberts,
Ky., and Bonnie Bentley of Deane, Ky.; twenty eight
grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren. and one
great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m.
Monday, Nov. 11, 2001, at Lucas and Hall Funeral Home with
the Revs. Johnny King, Dean Lyons, and Roy Hall officiating.
Burial will follow in the Annie E. Young Cemetery.
