Alfred Pearl Detty, 83, of Chillicothe, OH, died 12:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2007 in the Chillicothe Veterans Affairs Medical Center following an extended illness.

Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2007. A graveside service, to be announced later, will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Chillicothe, OH.

Alfred was born February 7, 1924, in Ross County, to the late Milton and Anna Leasure Detty. On September 29, 1951, he married the former Mary Ellen DuVall who died October 29, 2000.

Surviving are daughters, Sue Ellen (Dale) Roberts, of Chillicothe and Sally Ann (Kevin) Smith, of Warren, MI; a son, Brian P. (Wanda) Detty, of Manassas, VA; grandsons, Benjamin (Dawn) Roberts, James (Edna) Roberts, Michael (Krystal) Roberts and Nicholas Smith; six great grandsons, Jacob, Tucker, Nikalas, Cristopher, Blake and Boston Roberts; a brother, Melvin (Mary Alice) Detty, of Circleville; and a sister, Annabelle (David) Hubbard, of Tennessee. He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters.

Alfred, a World War II veteran, served in the U.S. Army in the Asiatic - Pacific Theater. He was a retired automotive repairman.
