Archie
Vincent Potter, 80, died March 28, 2009 at his home in Shelby Gap, Pike
County, Kentucky.
Born at Pound, Va., he was a son of the late
Creed Flannery Potter
and Sarah Rose Robinson, a stepson of the late
Ida Fuller Potter, and
the widower of Vera Edith Mullins
Potter.
He was the father of the late David Matthew Potter, John Mark Potter, Terry
Wayne Potter and Archie Potter Jr.; a grandfather of the late Michael Vincent
Potter Jr., and a brother of the late
Ralph Potter, Fred Webb Potter
and Marty Potter.
He was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers of America,
a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War, and a member of the
Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Masonic Lodge, the Order of the Easter Star, the
White Shrine and the International Order of Odd Fellows.
Surviving are two daughters, Candy Potter of Alexandria and Claudette Potter of
Shelby Gap; Kentucky, three sons, Michael Potter and Thomas Kern Potter, both of
Shelby Gap, and Mitchell Potter of Ash Camp; three sisters,
Annette Potter,
Carlene Burkland and
Billie Jaynes, all of Houston,
Tex.; three brothers, Dan Morgan Potter
of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Clark Potter
and David Potter, both of Houston,
Tex.; three grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held April 1, 2009. Burial was in the
Potter Cemetery (aka
Reynolds Family Cemetery) at
Seco, Kentucky.
