195. Jemina Wells
Letcher County Deaths records show that "Gemima" Sturgill, age 75, died on 15 Mar 1856. Her parents were recorded as Zachariah and Abigail Wells. Her place of birth was recorded as North Carolina.
John Boggs and Nancy Wells are buried in the Nelson Rice Cemetery outside of Blaine, Kentucky.
An action was brought in Carter County against John Boggs by his sister-in-law, the second wife of William Boggs. Apparently John Boggs (and others) were living on land which the former Mrs. Boggs believed she had dower rights in. The action lists many of the decendents of James L. Boggs, Sr.
A history of Lee County, Virginia, indicates the following:
John O. Boggs, one of the ealy settlers of Jackson County, Kentucky, was born in Lee County, Virginia, Oct. 30, 1818. His grandfather, John Boggs was a native of North Carolina and a Revolutionary soldier. His father, John Boggs, was born in Virginia 1771 and married Nancy Wells, born 1773. In 1822 they removed to Kentucky and settled in Lawrence County where he died.
The record then lists his children.
