Mildred B. (Fleenor) McConnell, 95, Kingsport, Tenn., died Sunday (June 17, 2007) at Holston Valley Medical Center in Kingsport, Tenn. Mrs. McConnell was born in Scott County, Va. on Jan. 13, 1912. She was a member of Lynn Garden Baptist Church and a former member of First Baptist Church, Nickelsville, VA. (She was a charter member of the McConnell and Related Family Clans.)
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tate McConnell; her parents, Elgar Neal and Nataline Fletcher Fleenor; her sister, Virginia Elliott; an infant sister, Mary Fleenor; brothers, Kyle Fleenor, Joe Fleenor, John Fleenor, Fred Fleenor, and G.N. Fleenor, Jr.; and two nephews.
She is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Mann and husband Don, Kingsport; granddaughter, Beverly Cox and husband Wayne; great-grandchildren, Joseph and Erika Cox; step-granddaughter, Donna Byington; step-grandson, Anthony Mann; one step-great-granddaughter; three step-great-grandsons; one step-great-great-granddaughter; two step-great-great-grandsons; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday in the chapel of the Scott County Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Collins and Rev. Michael Wrye officiating. Music was provided by Carroll Hurd. Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (June 20, 2007) at Nickelsville Baptist Church Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends.

BRANHAM, Elizabeth was the daughter of Rueben and Harriet Branham, was born Dec 12 1852 and died Feb 13 1945. She was married to James P. MULLINS in 1872 having 7 boys/5 girls; three died in infancy and two girls preceded her in death. The children living are: Bruce Mullins, Breaks, Va., George W. Funeral services were conducted Tuesday for of Carter County's eldest residents.
James R. "Uncle Jim" Tackett, who was 100 years old April 19, died Saturday in Elmwood Village Nursing Home at Ashland.
Born April 19, 1897 (1867), in Lewis County, he was a retired General Refractories employee. He was a son of the late Sherwood and Mary Ellen Campbell Tackett.
Services were conducted at the Olive Hill Baptist Church with Lewis Ader and Bull Hartung officiation. Burial was in Pleasant Valley Cemetery with the Oney Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include two sons, Herbert and Elmo Tackett of Olive Hill; five daughters, Mrs. Mattie Barker, Irondale, O., Mrs. Iris Collins and Lula Felder, Bairmingham, Ala., Mrs. Effie Fielding, Olive Hill and Mrs. Martha Holbrook, Richmond, Ind.
