7535. Dingus Tackett

DINGUS TACKETT

I will try to write an obituary of Dingus Tackett. Dingus was born into the home of Levi and Vina Burke Tackett on February 18, 1913 and passed away April 12, 1988, making his journey here on earth 75 years, one month and twenty-five days.

Dingus is survived by his wife, Lexie Tackett of Andrews, Indiana; one daughter, Glenda McCoy of Andrews, Indiana and one deceased; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. His father and mother preceded him in death.

He is survived by two brothers, Denver Tackett of Halo, Kentucky and Joe Tackett of Rome City, Indiana; two sisters, Bernice Tackett of Melvin, Kentucky and Cora Tackett of River Rouge, Michigan. He has four brothers and two sisters deceased.

Dingus worked in the coal mines for many years, then he moved to Indiana, where he worked until he became unable to work. He had been sick several years. He was a patient man in all his sickness, but we believe the greatest work or decision he made in his entire life was when he saw his need for a Savior for his soul and began to pray to the Great God of the Universe. We believe he found that saving grace according to the testimony he gave to his family.
To his children, brothers and sisters, don't weep for your loving husband, father and brother. If are not prepared to go to that blessed land of rest, now is the time to start. Tomorrow may be too late.

By Denver Tackett, assisted by Walter Burke
