TACKETT, Melpha Newsome Age 93, of Waverly, Ohio, formerly of Martin, wife of the late Emmett Tackett, passed away, Wednesday, April 21, 2004, in Waverly, Ohio. She was born February 20, 1911, in Robinson Creek, the daughter of the late Robert Lee Newsome Jr., and Phena Hamilton Newsome. She was a faithful member of the New Life United Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, and loving mother and grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include one daughter, Anna Lee (Lyman) Porter of Waverly, Ohio; one sister, Jean (Theron) Williamson of Tipton, Iowa; three granddaughters, Rhonda (Jeffery) Tutt, Carol (Randy) Vandagriff, and Cindy (Tom) Noirot, all of Dayton, Ohio; six great-grandchildren: Elijah Speer, David Speer, Toni Alig, Kristen Noirot, Lora Noirot and Travis Weisman; and one great-great-granddaughter, Nathalie Speer, all of Dayton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett, on December 31, 1984; one son, Ronald Gene Tackett; two infant children: James Carlos Tackett and Bonnie Faye Tackett; two infant granddaughters, Cecilia Porter and Alyce Lynn Porter; one grandson, Rory Stephen Tackett; one great-granddaughter, Kolyn Kindred; three brothers: Palmer, Orbie and Alonzo Newsome; six sisters: Myrtle Cox, Ethel Fitzgerald, Audrey Rainey, Edythe Luxmore, Leona Newsome, and Mary Newsome. Funeral services for Melpha Newsome Tackett will be conducted Saturday, April 24, at 11 a.m., in the Hall Funeral Home, at Martin. Burial will follow in the Davidson Memorial Gardens, at Ivel, with the Hall Funeral Home, caring for those arrangements. Visitation is at the funeral home.
