5292. Thelma Grace Osborne
Thelma Grace Barnette, 91, went to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, August 26, 2013, with her family gathered around her.
Thelma was born on August 17, 1922 to the late Jessee and Latishie Latitia Glass Osborne. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Curtis James Barnette; six brothers, Emmette, Roy, Charlie, Amos, Hollie and Johnny; six sisters, Bonnie, Mary Ella, Ruby, Rosa and her twin sister Zelma Mae and youngest, Jessie Lee; two sons-in-law, Donald Osborne and Tucker Tomlinson.
She is survived by her children, Arneda Osborne of Blackwater, VA, Ruth Rhoton and husband Patton of Duffield, VA, Gaye Barnette of Blackwater, VA and Dwain Barnette and wife Nettie Mae of Blackwater, VA; six grandchildren, Dale, Evelyn, Joyce, Shawn, Audrey, and Victoria; eleven great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
Thelma gave her life to the Lord and was baptized at the age of 14 and joined Osborne Chapel Church. She later chose Flag Pond Community Church as her home church and attended there as long as she was able. She enjoyed reading her bible every day and listening to preaching and singing on the television and radio.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7p.m. Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Robinette Funeral Home in Blackwater, VA. The funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. T.J. Hood officiating. The graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 29 in the Flag Pond Community Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Arneda, Gaye, Audrey, Victoria, Joyce, Evelyn, Brittany, and Nettie.
