SIMMONS - Christopher Columbus - 73, of Maysel, died yesterday at his
home.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mabel Simmons; three sons, Orville of Beard's
Fork, Lewis and Elmore, both of Maysel; six daughters, Mrs. Dorothy
Daniels
and Mrs. Ethel Hubbard, both of Bickmore, and Misses Mamie, Emma, Nellie
and
Eva, all at home; one sister, Mrs. Melissa Roberts of Wellsburg and two
grandchildren. He was a member of the Blue Knob Methodist Church of
Maysel.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. today at the Holcomb cemetery at
Bickmore with Rev. J. H. McLaughlin officiating. Hess and Harper mortuary
of Clay is in charge of arrangements.

BACKUS WOMAN KILLS HERSELF

Backus- Feb 22- Mrs. Iva Bell Osborne, 48-year old Backus woman, died early yesterday of self-inflicted gunshot wounds, according to verdict rendered by inquest conducted by Justice of the Peace Fred R. Small of Quinnmont District. Wife of John Lee Osborne of Backus, she was a daughter of Benjamin Keith and the late Mrs. Keith of Fola, West Virginia.

•Surviving besides the husband are four daughters, Misses Beverly, Joan, and Susie Osborne, at home, and Mrs. Katherine Scott of Russell, Kentucky. Also three sons, Charles and Russell Osborne, at home, and Harry Osborne of Charleston. Other survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Marie Ramsey of Handley, Mrs. Sarah Osborne of Clay; Mrs. Alice Stephenson of Charleston , and Mrs. Delcia Roberts of Eccles; also, four brothers, Lon Keith, living in Maryland, Okey of Handley, Herbert of Clay, and Elk of Lizemore. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2:00 pm at the Fola Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Jones officiating and burial in the Keith Cemetery. The body is at Wallace and Wallace Mortuary where it will remain until removed to the church at Fola.

She was born March 16, 1935.


She was preceded in death by her husband, James Jones.

Jimmy Ray Keith, 63, of Bickmore, entered into rest Sunday December 25, 2011.

Born August 16, 1948 in Bickmore. He was the son of the late Herbert and Ida Keith. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers Herbert and Kelly Keith.

Jimmy is survived by his sisters, Shelby Jarvis, Carol Pierson both of Bickmore, Judy Brown of Hilliard, Florida,
Several nieces and nephews .

Graveside service will be held 11:00 am Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Sunset Cemetery, Bickmore, with Pastor Bruce Cubbedge officiating.

He was born March 8, 1939, in Clay County, Bickmore, W.Va., to William Elkins and Glacie (Neal) Keith and married Betty Cox on Sept. 19, 1959. She survives.
