Dorothy Mae Hylton Sherman, 79 years of age of Oakwood, VA, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, January 10, 2013 in Bowers Hospice House in Beckley, WV. Born May 9, 1933 in Pikeville, KY, she was the daughter of the late Hayes and Opal Kilgore Hylton.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking and canning and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, James Noble Tackett and her late husband, Edgar Lee Sherman, one sister, Shirley Cook, one brother, Orville Hylton, two step-daughters, Betty Sue Dalley and Sue Little.
Survivors include daughters, Diane Cassady and husband Bill of Daniels, WV, Linda Bishop and husband Michael of Speedwell, TN; son, James Michael Tackett and wife Judy of Beckley, WV; sister, Ruth Lawson and husband Bill of Claremore, OK; brothers, Estil Hylton and wife Debbie and Johnny Hylton and wife Carolyn both of Belfry, KY; stepsons, Randy Tackett and wife Rachel of Taylor MI, Gary Sherman and wife Rose of Virgie, KY.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Tackett and wife Kim of Albuquerque, NM, K. J. Phillips and wife Melissa of Belfry, KY, Christopher Tackett and wife Tiffany of Vansant, VA, Justin Tackett and wife Ashley of Knoxville, TN, Brandon Casady of Beckley, WV, Kayla Bishop of Speedwell, TN; step-grandsons, Adam Taylor of Charleston, WV, Jeff Dalley and wife Dorine of Port Orange, FL; great-grandchildren, Kierra, Kylee, Kenna Phillips, Brady, Bentley Hatmaker, Rachel, Levi Tackett; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Hylton Sherman will be conducted at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Sunday, January 13, 2013 at 12:00 noon with Pastor Jody Breeding officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Memorial Cemetery in Pikeville KY.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Tackett, K.J. Phillips, Christopher Tackett, Justin Tackett, Brandon Cassady, Jim Hylton, Casey Hatmaker.
The family will receive friends at the Shortridge-Ramey Funeral Home Chapel of Keen Mountain, VA, Saturday, January 12 after 6:00 p.m.

William Goble Tackett, Sr., 83, of Troutville, died Sunday, April 27, 2008. He was born on February 26, 1925 in Wales, Pike County, Kentucky and was preceded in death by three brothers, James Noble Tackett, Hiram Tackett, Hassell Eugene Tackett, and one sister, Elma Tackett Bryant. He was a loving husband and father and is survived by his wife of 60 years, Sena Potter Tackett; five sons and three daughters, William Goble Tackett, Jr. (Roberta), Donald Clifton Tackett, Sr. (Vickie), Mary Tackett Cox (Steve), Douglas Keith Tackett (Rhonda), Christopher Allen Tackett (Bobbie), Hiram Desmund Tackett (Sandra), Sena Tackett Skinner (Gregory), Sandra Tackett Kroft (Joel); 19 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Leslie Mae Tackett and Janie Tackett. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2008 at Oakey's East Chapel with interment to follow at 3 p.m. in the Green Hill Cemetery in Churchville, Virginia, with Military Honors by the U. S. Army. The family will receive friends on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. both days, at Oakey's East Chapel, Bonsack, 540-977-3909.

"Together Again" NORTON \endash Elva Jane Tackett, age 82, passed away Wednesday, December 03, 2014 after a short illness.The daughter of James Madison "Matt" and Cordelia (Johnson) Tackett, she was born on September 14, 1932 in Wales, KY. She lived most of her adult life in the Barberton/Norton area.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Elva "Janie" dedicated her life to her family and enjoyed every moment spent with them.
Preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years, Audrey; parents; brothers, Goble, Noble, Hiram and Hassell; sisters, Leslie and Elma.
She is survived by her children, Brenda (Don) Robinson, Greg (Marge) Tackett all of Barberton, Roger (Carol) Tackett of Norton; grandchildren, Brad (Trish) Tackett of Lawrence Twp., Barbara (Rob) Booth of Clearwater, FL, Crystal (Derek) Eller of Norton, John Robinson of Green; great grandchildren of which she especially enjoyed, Taylor and Austin Booth, Chase and Cody Tackett, Morganne and Jarrett Eller; many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Zak-Thacker & Monbarren Funeral Home, 132 N. Portage St., Doylestown, 44230 with Fr. James Maloney, officiating. Burial to take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery.
Friends and family may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Audrey G. Tackett, 81, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2011 after a short illness.
The son of Murphy and Gracie Tackett, he was born on July 19, 1930 in Wales, Kentucky. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox Company in Barberton after 42 years of service and was a member of Boiler Makers Union #900. After retiring from B&W he enjoyed working part-time at Orlo Auto Parts in Barberton for 10 years.
Preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Eulah Dean, he is survived by his wife of 61 years, Elva Jane ``Janie'; daughter, Brenda (Don) Robinson of Barberton; sons, Gregory (Marge) Tackett of Barberton and Roger (Carol) Tackett of Norton; grandchildren, Brad (Trish) Tackett of Lawrence Twp., Barbara (Rob) Booth of Bethlehem Twp., Crystal (Derek) Eller of Lake Twp., John Robinson of Barberton; great-grandchildren of which he especially enjoyed, Taylor and Austin Booth, Chase and Cody Tackett, Morganne and Jarrett Eller.
